1--What is the title of your latest release?

THE DETECTIVE, which is the seventh book in my action-packed romantic suspense series, Norcross Security.

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

She’s a woman on the run from a stalker and desperate to avoid her hot, nosy detective neighbor.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

My Norcross Security series is set in San Francisco. I knew it would revolve around ex-military heroes now working in private security in a city. I wanted a vibrant city to be the backdrop and San Francisco was perfect.

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Yes! Although my heroine, Savannah, is an artist and I can barely draw a stick figure. I save my creativity for writing.

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

Tough, rugged, protective

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

Like I mentioned, I’m not an artist, so I had to do a bit of research for the art side of things for the heroine in The Detective. I learned a lot about painting with a palette knife to add texture to a painting. I doubt I’ll ever do it in real life, but it was fun reading about it.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I wait until I’m done before I edit. After writing so many books, I’ve learned that things can change through the first draft of a story and any edits I’ve already made might need to get changed again.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Chocolate! There can never be too much chocolate.

9--Describe your writing space/office!

We built a new house a few years ago and I now have a lovely, spacious office. I have a comfy couch, big desk, and lots of bookshelves.

10--Who is an author you admire?

Nora Roberts. She was my favorite author when I was young and first started reading romance. I also admire her work ethic as an author and her amazing career.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

Not one single book, but I love the romance genre. Reading romance changed my life. It is the thing that gets me through the tough times, and it was what inspired me to try my hand at writing my own stories.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

The first story I sold was a paranormal romance short story to Harlequin called Savage Dragon. I was SO excited when my editor told me she wanted to publish my story, and then the nerves set in about actually sending my story out into the world!

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

I read romance and enjoy anything with some action in there. I usually read romantic suspense, urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

I can’t pick just one! I’m a sucker for action movies and sci-fi movies, but if I only get one, it would have to be Pride and Prejudice.

15--What is your favorite season?

I like them all. Being an Australian, I’m not a huge fan of the cold. When I start to get tired of the summer, I really like it when the weather cools down and vice versa.

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

A nice dinner, a glass of red wine, and cake with my boys (Mr H and our two sons).

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

My hubby and I are really enjoying the new Reacher series. Lots of action and fight scenes, a good mystery, and a dash of romance.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

I love all food! I do love Indian and Thai food.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

Free time? Being a full-time author, wife, and mother of two boys, there isn’t much free time for me, but I do love spending time with my family and of course, reading!

20--What can readers expect from you next?

I have another book in my Norcross Security series, THE MEDIC, arriving on April 5th, and I am currently working on a new science fiction romance in my Galactic Kings series, called Captain of the Guard.

THE DETECTIVE by Anna Hackett

Norcross Security #7

The Detective

She’s a woman on the run and desperate to avoid her hot, nosy detective neighbor.

Artist Savannah Cole has secrets. She can never stay anywhere too long or let anyone get too close. An obsessed stalker has her in his sights, and to protect her family, she can never go home, never share her art, and never fall in love.
But when she plays her music a little too loud, she collides with her good-looking, inquisitive, and far-too-hot neighbor, Detective Hunter Morgan. A man who makes her want things she can never have.

After an injury ended his military career with Delta Force, Hunt Morgan found his place at the San Francisco Police Department. He may not have been there for the men of his team, but now he does his bit to keep his city safe. But his mysterious, new neighbor is disturbing his peace. One look at the beautiful blonde and Hunt knows she has secrets…
When a spate of mysterious attacks threaten Savannah’s life, Hunt steps in. He’ll keep her safe and he’s not going to let her run again.

As Savannah’s stalker closes in, she finds herself with her own private protector. Even with his brothers and friends at Norcross Security at his back, she’s terrified he’ll become the next target. But Hunt isn’t afraid of her deadly stalker, because he knows the hardest challenge will be convincing Savannah to take the biggest risk and stay.

Re: Anna Hackett | 20 Questions: THE DETECTIVE

It's always nice to get to know one if your favorite authors
a little better. I will admit when reading Anna Hacketts
books I often wonder what her research process is since her
books are very relatable to real life. Even the Sci-fi
books.
