1--What is the title of your latest release?

MALICIOUS INTENT

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

Dr. Ivy Collins, founder and CEO of Hedera, Inc., is ready to begin clinical trials of her company's cutting-edge prosthetic. Her work has been heralded by government, medical, and advocacy groups and everyone hopes the device will be a success. Well, almost everyone. Someone is trying to sabotage Hedera and the launch, but to what purpose—and how far will they go to get what they want?

Meanwhile, U.S. Secret Service Agent Gil Dixon can't believe he's finally been reunited with Ivy, his childhood best friend. Now that he's found her again, Gil intends to spend the rest of his life with her. But it will take all his skill to uncover the truth in time to save Ivy's life's work, her own life, and the innocent lives caught in the crossfire.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

The entire series takes place in Raleigh, NC. I wanted it to be in North Carolina, not far from a fictional town I created in my previous series, and in a location where there is a Secret Service office. Raleigh fit the bill perfectly.

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Definitely. I think we’d get along great! She’s kind and a little weird, two of my favorite things.

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

Protective, Loyal, Phenomenal Cook….oops, that’s four. :)

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I learned a lot about inheritance taxes, investments, and the fascinating advances being made in prosthetics design.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I’m an organic writer so I frequently have to go back and change things, but I don’t do a detailed edit until I’m done.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

My husband and I love to find local restaurants with the freshest seafood/local beef, etc. when we travel. But when I’m cooking at home, I splurge on flavored oils and vinegars, and high-quality butter.

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I have a small office that used to be a storage area off our bonus room. It’s painted a pale blue and I have a desk, a comfy chair and ottoman, and lots of bookshelves. I love having a space of my own to create.

10--Who is an author you admire?

Lynette Eason. She has mentored me for years and I’m blessed to call her my friend. She’s not only a fabulous author but is also very giving of her time and wisdom to others in the industry.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

The Bible is the most life changing. No contest. In recent years, Chasing Vines by Beth Moore, Adorning the Dark by Andrew Peterson, Deep Work by Cal Newport, Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen and The Road Back to You by Suzanne Stabile and Ian Morgan Cron have had a profound impact on how I think, create, and relate to others.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

It’s almost too ridiculous to be true, but it is 100% the way it happened. For my first trade length novel, I knew the pub board had been meeting, and I was waiting to hear something official. So when my agent called I couldn’t let it go to voice mail. Unfortunately, I had just pulled into the parking lot of a home improvement store. I was there to pick up a toilet because one of my kids had flushed a toy and it couldn’t be repaired. I sat in my mini-van while she gave me the good news, and then went inside. I remember walking around the store thinking, “Yeah, this author life is sooooo glamorous!” I never imagined my “the call” story would turn out quite like that.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Romantic Suspense

14--What’s your favorite movie?

How could I choose just one? I love everything from The Lord of the Rings trilogy to Tombstone to You’ve Got Mail.

15--What is your favorite season?

Fall. I live in the South. Our springs are an allergy sufferer’s nightmare. Our summers are so hot that the main goal is to stay inside in the A/C from June-September. :) But fall is glorious!

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

A relaxing day, dinner out, cake and ice cream for everyone else, chocolate pie for me. And I’m not too old to enjoy presents. :)

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I’m a huge fan of podcasts. Two that I always try to make time for are The Next Right Thing from Emily P. Freeman and What Should I Read Next from Anne Bogel.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Modern Southern. With honorable mention going to Thai, Mexican, and Italian.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

I read. A lot! I also knit, crochet, make digital scrapbooks, and I love to have friends and family over for parties which usually revolve around food and football.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

My novella, DEADLY OBJECTIVE, will release in October 2022. It’s part of a romantic suspense novella collection with two other authors. DEADLY OBJECTIVE has Emily Dixon as the heroine. She’s the sister of the hero of MALICIOUS INTENT and a reader favorite.
