2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
Gazette insiders tell us there was an unchaperoned encounter between a certain deliciously mysterious earl and a flame-haired lady who’s rumored to keep daggers hidden within her skirts. Things are about to get dangerously scandalous in Maddison Michaels’ next Secret, Scandal and Spies release.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I love setting my books in the mid to late Victorian era – there was so much innovation and inventions happening during this period of history, that it really gives so much more depth to a story line! Plus I loved the ballgowns of the period, lol!
4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?
Absolutely!! I want her to teach me some of her fighting skills!! She’s a no nonsense, kick ass female!!
5--What are three words that describe your hero?
Honorable, masculine, and a protector.
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I learned all about the history of the War Office – which was fascinating! I also learned that one could purchase rubber sheaths in an apothecary store… lol
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
A bit of both really. I tend to go over what I wrote the day before, to get me into the story again for a day of writing, and while I do that, I edit the scenes a bit as I go.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Croissants and hot cross buns – two of my fav food indulgences!
9--Describe your writing space/office!
I have a dedicated room that I call my writing room – and I’ve got it set up perfectly for my needs!! It has a sit/stand desk, an ergonomic chair, a walking treadmill tucked under the desk, a rebounder to get the blood flowing and lots of books all around me!! I love it!
10--Who is an author you admire?
Jayne Ann Krentz – writing as Amanda Quick. I grew up reading and adoring her books and she’s now a lovely author pal!
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
When I was eleven, my dad gave me my first ever non-fiction book, ‘The Magic of Thinking Big’. I read that book and it really did open my mind to the power of believing in yourself and that you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)
I was at work and I checked my emails – as soon as I saw an email from Entangled Publishing I kind of expected it to be a rejection, but I was over the moon when I read the words ‘I loved your book and want to discuss possible publication…’ Talk about an awesome moment!
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Suspense – be it historical or contemporary.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
That’s a hard one as I have so many… Shawshank Redemption, The Marvel movies, Back to the Future, Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth) – and the list could go on and on!
15--What is your favorite season?
Spring – everything is so fresh and alive.
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I love to go to a restaurant with my family and enjoy a delicious meal. Or go on a beach holiday and relax by the pool with a great book!
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
The Witcher – need I say more than ‘Henry Cavill’…
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Modern Australian with a hint of European, though I also love Yum cha!
19--What do you do when you have free time?
Watch TV, read, play Mass Effect on the playstation, lol
20--What can readers expect from you next?
Book 3 in the Secrets, Scandals and Spies series releases in November, and I’m also working on a new series, so stay tuned!
