L.C. Chase | PULLING LEATHER Blog Tour

G’day everyone! Welcome to my PULLING LEATHER blog tour and a peek into the world of rodeo cowboys. (The official schedule can be found here.) This wouldn’t be a proper tour without some prezzies, of course, so read on for giveaway details. Thank you to Fresh Fiction for kicking off my new tour, and to all of you for hopping in the saddle to ride along!

From the Merriam-Webster dictionary: anΒ·tiΒ·heΒ·ro : a main character in a book, play, movie, etc., who does not have the usual good qualities that are expected in a hero

When I first started PICKUP MEN, Scott Gillard wasn’t even an antihero, he was absolutely the villain and he was going to end up in jail, never to be heard from again. But you’ve all heard the saying about those who protest too much? As the story went on and I pondered where this series was going to go, Scott started popping up more often and I began to wonder… What if there was more to his story? What if his issues were deeper than just being an irredeemable asshole? Could I find a way to bring him around? Tough, for sure, but not impossible.

I ran the idea past a few friends of mine, all of whom thought there was
potential, though it would be tough. Especially if Scott actually did go to
prison. How could he possibly make amends and would anyone ever forgive him?

I was eager to get to work on his story, but we had Bridge and Eric’s story to tell first. Scott had to go away and cool his jets for a couple of years before his story could be told. I really can’t give too much away here, but I am glad that I left book one open-ended, as far as Scott was concerned. What happened to him after he was arrested, and how the heck did he get his own story? Guess you’ll just have to read PULLING LEATHER to find out. ;-)

Which brings me back to the beginning of this post, the antihero. These
characters are complex, flawed, full of nuance, and often more interesting than
the traditional β€œpure” hero. They aren’t perfect. They have issues. They
sometimes, oftentimes, make the wrong choices, but perhaps their reasons for
such choices are good. When they’re darker, like my cowboy Scott, they can be
hard to love, but they are worth it nonetheless.

Now I’m curious, who are a few of your favorite antiheroes?

About: The toughest ride of his life is all in his head.

Bull rider Scott Gillard has a reputation for quick fists and harsh words. What
no one knows is where that anger comes from. After a shocking incident sends him
into a tailspin, he knows he needs help: he’s been fighting a battle he could
never win. Now he’s trying to navigate a new life and embrace his true self, but
some days are easier than others.

Pickup man Cory Ackerson has suffered his share of harassment, but his light
still burns bright. He doesn’t let anything or anyone keep him down, so when he
meets the rugged cowboy with a battered chip on his shoulder and regret in his
dark eyes, all he wants to do is help.

As their unlikely friendship grows into something deeper, Scott must overcome
his past to be the man Cory deserves, or lose his best chance at his own happily
ever after.

Re: L.C. Chase | PULLING LEATHER Blog Tour

It's still a little early for me, but the person that popped
into my head is Doc Holliday. Another one would be Wyatt Earp.
I'll be looking forward to reading your book!! The cover to
your book is stunning!! Congratulations!!!
