Welcome to November! I’m a usually a person who makes an effort to be thankful every day, but this is the month that I make a point to write little notes every day and put them in a jar. I then use that jar to carry me through the end of the year because there are so many things to do with all the holidays and events. I hope whichever holidays you celebrate are amazing and that you make time to find a comfy spot, wrap yourself in a blanket, get something wonderful in your mug, and read to your heart’s content. Here are some recommendations to get you through the month!
Oh, and here’s a Reader Pass from me! If someone asks you to do something while you’re reading, this is my written permission for you to say no!

So now that you have most of the things you need, let’s dive into the book recommendations!
First, let’s look at TRAPPING, TURKEYS, & THANKSGIVING (A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery Series Book 28) by Tonya Kappes

This is a couple years old but still funny today! I love the community we’re reading about and the main character is a hoot! Mae West is up to her knees in hijinks while trying to get ready for her wedding, and I am here for it! Get ready to laugh, sigh, and basically give thanks that you can live vicariously through her troubles instead of having to hold your own in the same situation.
Next, it’s all about talking turkey in MURDER WITH A HINT OF PUMPKIN SPICE: Whisper Hollow Mysteries Book 1 by Laura M. Drake

This is the first book in a series that I will absolutely come back to. A fast and fun read when you need the escape during preparing all the things and showing up at all the places. Take a minute to unwind with our intrepid sleuth Harper, who really just wants to run the bookstore she’s inherited! But first, she needs to solve a murder…
Last, but certainly not least, I have to recommend a new book coming out on Dec. 2. You can hit pre-order now so that you have a present to yourself to look forward to after surviving the first set of holidays for those of us in the US.

HOLIDAYS & HOMICIDES: a short story collection
by Rosalie Spielman, Catherine Bruns, Gin Jones, Annie McEwen, Lena Gregory, Jennifer Fischetto, Anne Marie Stoddard, Kelly Rey, Misty Simon, Christine Knapp, Jamie L. Adams, Erica Wynters is a fabulous collection of holiday stories covering several of the holidays around this time, all the way up to Valentine’s Day! We had a blast writing this, and I hope you’ll find all the feels and the joy in the season by reading these short holiday bites that are perfect for enjoying between rounds of wrapping or binge-reading over a cup of cocoa!
It can be found here: https://www.gemmahallidaypublishing.com/holiday
And that’s it from me until next month! I hope whatever you do, and however you do it, during this festive month, that you can do it with joy and with a bit of reading to get you through. And don’t forget to print out the reading pass, then wave it with wild abandon! I promise it works.
Misty Simon always wanted to be a storyteller - preferably behind a Muppet. Animal was number one, followed closely by Sherlock Hemlock. Since that dream didn’t come true, she began writing stories to share her world with readers, one laugh at a time.
Touching people’s hearts and funny bones are two of her favorite things, and she hopes everyone at least snickers in the right places when reading her books. She lives with her husband in Central Pennsylvania where she is hard at work on her next novel or three. She loves to hear from readers so drop her a line via email.
