Hello,
I’m Kit Conway and I’m excited to tell you more about my debut novel, CAT FIGHT.
Cat Fight tells the story of three suburban women who, over the course of one hot summer, each use the growing hysteria around a big cat sighting to achieve their own agendas—some more sinister than others.
I have always been a bit of a word nerd and loved writing acrostic poems at school so I couldn’t resist taking up Fresh Fiction’s Title Challenge! I hope you enjoy my effort!
C is for Claws. And cats. And cattiness. Because when peace shatters in suburbia, the claws come out …
A is for Action! Not just among the residents of Briar Close, as the action ramps up and the pressure builds, but also ‘Lights! Camera! Action!’ as Cat Fight is being adapted for TV. Read the book before you watch the show!
T is for Twig, one of the three (another T!) women at the heart of this story. Twig is a reluctant suburbanite, desperate to draw attention to her unwell daughter’s fundraiser. She lives next door to Emma, a Disney-mom determined to push through her (extremely pink!) home renovation plans. Meanwhile Coralie, trained zoologist, who fears her husband is slipping away from her, is on a crusade of her own.
F is for Facebook group. The opening scenes of the novel were inspired by a real-life post in a local Facebook group in which a woman’s sister returned home to find a big, wild cat on the hood of her car in Sevenoaks, a Kent suburb just outside of London…
I is for Illicit. Illicit meet-ups, illicit relationships, illicit activities… because nothing is as it seems in safe, secure, suburbia.
G is for Garden, specifically The Garden of England, as Kent is known. A county of beauty and nature, of trees and plants, and, possibly, with a big cat on the prowl.
H is for Hero. Hero of the cul-de-sac, Elwood; a sweet, curious, nature-loving kid who is determined to solve the Mystery of the Sevenoaks Panther.
T is for Tiger King. There’s a good reason why Cat Fight has been pitched as Big Little Lies meets Tiger King but I don’t want to spoil any surprises, so I’d better stop there. I can however confirm that there are no Joe Exotic cameo appearances!

A Novel
Big Little Lies meets Tiger King in this fun and propulsive debut novel about three suburban women who, over the course of one summer, each use the growing hysteria around a big cat sighting to achieve their own agendas—some more sinister than others.
Former zoologist Coralie King now reigns over a different sort of animal kingdom as Queen Bee of Sevenoaks, a wealthy suburb of London. When her husband Adam spots a panther on the hood of his car at one of her exclusive dinner parties, Coralie is quick to reassure her guests that they’re in no real danger. She sees the sighting as the perfect opportunity to revive her career and promote her own ecological endeavors.
New neighbor Emma Brooks doesn’t believe for a second that there’s a big cat in their midst but is all too willing to use the concern as a distraction from her home remodel application that’s been facing scrutiny. Meanwhile, former punk musician Twig Dorsett doesn’t know what to believe. She never thought she’d return to Sevenoaks and be living in her childhood home, but after her daughter became sick, she and her wife traded their Bohemian life in Bali for the security of London suburbia.
As the summer heats up, the frenzy around the big cat sighting reaches a fever pitch when gnawed bones, pawprints, and scratches are discovered. But is the real predator a big cat on the prowl or is the true threat more of the domestic variety? Filled with gasp-worthy twists and turns, Cat Fight is a wickedly entertaining novel of suspense that examines the lengths to which some women will go when they feel caged.
