Book Title: NATURE OF FROST
Character Name: Valen
How would you describe your family or your childhood?
A big fat lie.
What was your greatest talent?
That really depends on who you ask.
Significant other?
Officially? No. But there’s really only one person for me. And she knows it.
Biggest challenge in relationships?
Trust is an issue for me these days.
Where do you live?
In Derriga. The Winter Lands to be specific.
Do you have any enemies?
Are you kidding? Everyone loves me! Well, I mean mostly… I suppose there’s one or two out there who aren’t fans.
How do you feel about the place where you are now? Is there something you are particularly attached to, or particularly repelled by, in this place?
I’ve been forced to take a job I want no part of. It comes with a shitload of responsibility that I don’t want. So, how do I feel? Not particularly thrilled.
Do you have children, pets, both, or neither?
Gods forbid. I can barely keep myself alive much less a child or pet. Don’t get me started on vegetation.
What do you do for a living?
Apparently, I’m a ruler now. So, I, um…rule?
Greatest disappointment?
I don’t know you well enough to answer that.
Greatest source of joy?
Wine. And, yanno, probably Tania. Don’t tell her I answered in that order! In fact, don’t even tell her I mentioned the wine.
What do you do to entertain yourself or have fun?
The old answer would have been “whatever I want” Now? They don’t let me do anything fun. Some crap about setting an example and nobility, blah blah blah. I don’t understand what’s so unnoble about wearing a lampshade on your head.
What keeps you awake at night?
Tania’s snoring. I can hear it from across the hall, with my door closed. Also, to be fair, I’m also a bit stressed about the deal I made with our enemy. But, mostly Tania’s snoring.
Don’t tell her I said that, either.
What is the most pressing problem you have at the moment?
I might have promised our greatest enemy unfettered access to the kingdom—but I had good reason!
Is there something that you need or want that you don’t have? For yourself or for someone important to you?
The freedom to be with the one I love.
Why don’t you have it? What is in the way?
Politics. It’s always freaking politics.
Omen of Ice #2
A dying kingdom on thin ice…
Not so long ago, druid Keltania Tunne thought she knew the world—and her place in it. Magic was all but dead, and the kingdom torn apart. Then she was sent to the court of the Winter Fae and charged with the protection of Valen, the icily arrogant prince who some believed would bring about the destruction of them all…
Instead, he brought magic.
The greed for magic nearly destroyed their world, and its return could plunge them all back into chaos—or unite the estranged fae courts…if they move quickly.
Now Keltania and Valen must navigate the temperamental fae, their insidious secrets, and an enemy who would cleave the kingdom in two in the name of vengeance—all the while hiding the truth of their connection.
Its magic. Its remarkable power. And its ability to crush their hearts in two.
But no one knows that Valen struck a secret bargain with their enemy...and soon everyone in the land will face the consequences.
