1--What is the title of your latest release?
DIAGNOSIS ATTRACTION, the fourth book in my Soulmated series
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
As a doctor tries to help a woman with amnesia, unexpected sexual attraction flares between them. But his medical ethics get in the way of his desires.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I’m familiar with the city of Baltimore, and it seemed like a good place for this gritty story. Also, the port of Baltimore is an important element in the story.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Yeah, since I always like my protagonists.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Dr. Matthew Delano is honorable, life-hardened, and competent.
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I learned once again that while amnesia is a tempting trope, it’s always hard to write about a person who doesn’t remember her past.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I edit as I go along, then edit a lot more when I have it all in black and white.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
I would kill for a good chocolate éclair with real custard inside. I’ll settle for a chocolate soda with vanilla ice cream (which I love to make at home).
9--Describe your writing space/office!
My husband took over my basement office years ago. I prefer to write propped up in bed where I can be comfortable, and the cat can sit beside me.
10--Who is an author you admire?
Only one? Ken Follett.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
Adventures in Time and Space by Raymond J. Healy and J. Francis McComas. These short stories were some of my earliest SF readings and have influenced my imagination ever since.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
Like many authors, I first thought of writing children’s books. I had submitted my kids’ science fiction novel to Scholastic, and editor Phyllis Braun called to say she wanted to buy my book. Then she waited a long time to send me the contract, and I started thinking she’d changed her mind.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Only one? Okay, romantic suspense.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
Star Man. What a perfect science fiction love story.
15--What is your favorite season?
I love the wonderful reawakening of spring.
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Going out to dinner with my husband.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
Right now, we’re watching and enjoying The Silo. I’m especially intrigued by how much the screenwriters improved on the original books. (Not my usual reaction for a book to TV series).
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Hard question. I can’t decide between Italian, Asian, and Middle Eastern
19--What do you do when you have free time?
I love reading and listening to books. I also love cooking, gardening, and collecting rocks from the places we travel.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
I’m working on the fifth book in the Soulmated series. The working title is MIDNIGHT OBSESSION.
Soulmated #4
While desperately fleeing from the henchmen of a Baltimore mobster, Elizabeth Forester crashes her car into a light pole. She wakes up in the hospital with no memory of who she is. But the moment Doctor Mathew touches her, glimpses of her past come zinging back. Along with the memories, a scorching sexual heat flares between them.
Both Matt and Elizabeth have always felt cut off from normal human relationships. Now she senses she could have what she’s always craved with the handsome doctor.
It’s the same for Matt, although professional ethics dictate that he must not get involved with a patient. But he can’t walk away from the powerful needs drawing them together. After he rescues Elizabeth from a kidnapper, he knows the only way for them to survive is to strengthen the mysterious bond fusing them together.
First, they go up against the mobster. Then, they must confront the mysterious force that has turned these two loners into passionate soulmates.
