1--What is the title of your latest release?
THE WIDOW ON DWYER COURT
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
Sex-averse suburban soccer mom writes bestselling erotica based on her husband's affairs.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I live in Vermont, one of this country’s most beautiful and bounteous states. Given that the fictional character whom Kate is writing about is a Vermont cheesemaker, I had no choice but to set my thriller here!
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Absolutely. Kate is so multi-faceted. Plus, her life is aswirl with drama. I would love to witness the thrilling trajectories her life takes. Just thinking about having coffee with Kate and hearing her stories gets my heart beating faster.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Determined, suspicious, creative
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
Writing erotica is hard.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I am a total pantser: I edit as I write.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
White truffles
9--Describe your writing space/office!
I write in a small upstairs room in our 1925 Craftsman house in Burlington, Vermont. My desk—an old pine dining room table I found at a garage sale—is set in front of a huge window. When I’m not staring into my computer screen, I can watch the comings and goings in my neighborhood as well as the sailboats and kayakers on Lake Champlain in the distance. It’s a western view so I also get amazing sunsets over the Adirondacks. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see A LOT of sunset pictures!
10--Who is an author you admire?
Stephen King.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. I first read it in high school, again in college and once more after that. I’ve always been enamored with the Arthurian legend, but this book takes the tale to an almost transcendental level. It’s a book that made me realize how deeply a work of fiction can transport you to another time and place.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I was picking up a prescription at the supermarket when my agent called to say that Blackstone Publishing made an offer on the book.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Nope. Can’t answer that: I read all genres. Thrillers, romcoms, historical, crime…you name it. I’ll read any well-told, well-written story.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
Again…impossible. I love movies ranging from His Girl Friday to The Shawshank Redemption and lots in between.
15--What is your favorite season?
Autumn
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
A decadent meal either at a local restaurant or cooked by my partner—who grew up in a family of chefs.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
I’m with everyone else here by claiming a true love affair with The Bear. Oh, and Hacks.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Korean
19--What do you do when you have free time?
I write (kidding/not kidding). I love to bike the 8-mile Burlington Greenway on days when there aren’t so many tourists strolling along, paying no attention to the headphone-wearing biker trying to speed past them. I have a weekly coffee and waffle meetup with two fellow authors. I belong to a neighborhood book club. Oh, and when I can make it happen, I love to travel. In fact, we’re off to Costa Rica next week!
20--What can readers expect from you next?
I recently completed The Better Brother. It features Deni Rydell, who believes her life is about to change once she marries Cal Cooper, Jr., heir to a mining fortune. When Cal and his parents perish in a plane crash, Cal’s brother Grant (a recovering addict) and his mysterious girlfriend Erika, become the beneficiaries of all that wealth. As if her world is not shattered enough, Deni’s best friend is found murdered on the land where she illegally grew marijuana. Local Detective Robyn Torres thinks the murder is a straightforward drug robbery gone wrong, but she couldn’t be further from the truth. As she works to solve the case, Torres uncovers a series of shocking secrets and family lies.
Perfect for fans of Kiersten Modglin’s The Arrangement, The Widow on Dwyer Court is a sexy psychological thriller that will leave you breathless.
Thirty-six-year-old stay-at-home soccer mom Kate Burke is happily married to Matt Parsons, although their marriage looks very different behind closed doors. Kate is no longer interested in having sex with her husband. Because Kate has a secret life writing erotic romance novels, and Matt’s adulterous affairs are her bread and butter.
The family equilibrium is upset, however, when Annie Meyers, an eccentric young widow, moves to town with her daughter. At first Kate is smitten with this wild, witty woman, who gives her a much-needed break from the other picture-perfect suburban moms, although she’s not sure how much of her secret life she’s willing to share with her new friend. But it turns out Annie has secrets too—big ones that could destroy all their lives.
Thriller Psychological [Blackstone Publishing, On Sale: July 16, 2024, e-Book, / eISBN: 9798212632911]
Lisa was born in New Jersey two miles from where Thomas Alva Edison first recorded sound; in fact she and her adolescent peers would often be found lounging beneath the art deco tower that was built in his honor, making-out or puffing on stolen cigarettes. Just as Lisa was getting comfortable wearing bold-colored maxi skirts, her parents moved her and her two brothers to California, where she quickly adapted to making out and smoking cigarettes on the beach instead. She went to college and studied biology and theater arts. She went to graduate school and studied environmental anthropology.
Her latest book, a sexy psychological thriller called THE WIDOW ON DWYER COURT will be released Summer 2024 by Blackstone Publishing.
