Sisters of the Moon – Fleetwood Mac
UNDER YOUR SPELL starts with Clemmie at a low point in her life – she’s lost her job, her boyfriend, and she’s about to lose her home. While commiserating with her sisters (and plenty of wine) they decide to dust off an old childhood game – casting a ‘spell’ to make three wishes for the broken hearted and a curse against the heartbreaker. Fleetwood Mac are the perfect soundtrack to their drunken witchy happenings!
Written by a Woman – Mae Muller
Ladies and Gentlemen… Theo Eliott. I love this song, because Theo really is your newest book boyfriend. “Your shoulders, your hands, oh you must be a man written by a woman.” Swoon.
Growing Sideways – Noah Kahan
Therapy plays an important part in the book, and I love this Noah Kahan song, which I think really speaks to where Clemmie starts out in the book. Thanks to her bad relationship with her famous dad, and a terrible experience with her first love, Clemmie is incredibly risk-averse, and keeps her life small and safe while those around her are thriving. As Noah sings, “'Cause everyone's growing and everyone's healthy, I'm terrified that I might never have met me”.
Talk – Hozier
Theo is a musician and over the summer he and Clemmie spend together, he’s working on writing his new album. This song by Hozier is extremely sexy, and it is just how I imagine Theo to sound.
Mine – Taylor Swift
There are a bunch of Taylor swift songs that match Under Your Spell, but this one is absolutely perfect. To me, it sounds like the dreamy summer Theo and Clemmie spend together, and Clemmie is the absolute epitome of “a careless man’s careful daughter” who has to learn to take a chance and follow her heart.
The daughter of an aging rock star finds herself working for the hottest musician on the planet and is shocked when sparks start to fly—especially since she swore she’d never, ever date a celebrity—in this unputdownable romance that is perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Emily Henry.
She wants three things. He isn’t one of them...
Dumped by her cheating ex, fired from her dream job, and about to lose her flat: Clementine Monroe is not having a good day. So when her sisters get her drunk and suggest reviving a childhood ritual called the Breakup Spell, she doesn’t see the harm in it.
But now Clemmie has accidentally ruined a funeral, had her first one-night stand, and she’s stuck with a new job she definitely doesn’t want—spending six weeks alone with the gorgeous and very-off-limits rock star, Theo Eliott.
He’s the most famous man on the planet. Her life’s a disaster. As their summer together turns into its own kind of magic, is Clemmie cursed to repeat the mistakes of her past—or will her future see all her wishes come true?
