What is the title of your latest release?

HOW NOT TO HATE A DUKE

What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

An engaging and playful romance about what happens when a high-minded heiress clashes with the dastardly duke next door.

How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

The setting of the book is a house party in the English Countryside, and I decided to set it in the beautiful Peak District, where the partygoers could do some hunting, fishing, lawn games, and—something that doesn’t always happen at house parties—cave exploring!

Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Yes. She’s smart, funny, ahead of her time, and she admits to her mistakes.

What are three words that describe your hero?

Handsome, Powerful, and Confident

What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I learned everything about the cave called The Devil’s Arse! I read books, watched videos, and even visited the cave and took a tour deep into it last summer.

Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I edit lightly as I draft, but I do the majority of editing after I am totally done.

What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

I have so many, and it varies depending on what I’m craving at the time. Right now, I’d so love a slice of really good pizza!

Describe your writing space/office!

I like to write in the cabin of my sailboat, because it’s quiet and free of the distractions in my office at home. I sit on the bench seat at a little wooden table. I play music on a Bluetooth speaker, or sometimes I just write while listening to the little waves lapping against the hull.

Who is an author you admire?

Julia Quinn. I love her stories (they make me happy), her positive attitude, and how involved she is in translating her Bridgerton books into the TV show.

Is there a book that changed your life?

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon—I never knew historical romance existed before I read Outlander. That led me to reading Julie Garwood and some of the old bodice rippers, and I’ve never looked back!

Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

Life happened, so I had withdrawn from publishing for a few years. But I really wanted to start writing historical romances again, and when Heather Howland at Entangled called me up and said she liked my pitch, I was SO excited. It’s wonderful to be writing happily-ever-afters again!

What’s your favorite genre to read?

I have eclectic tastes, for sure. Overall, I’d say my second favorite (after Historical Romance) is suspense/thriller. I love edge-of-your seat thrillers!

What’s your favorite movie?

I don’t have one! I could list a hundred that I absolutely love. One standout is The Princess Bride because it always makes me smile.

What is your favorite season?

I used to always love summer, but now I’m more of a winter girl. I love cuddling up under a soft, warm blanket and reading!

How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

By seeing my family! And I like to take the day to NOT COOK. LOL! Having someone else cook for me is the best gift ever.

What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I just re-watched The Summer I Turned Pretty (both seasons) and really enjoyed it. I can’t wait for the third season!

What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

I love all types of cuisine! Right now, I am hankering Japanese food for some reason. A yummy sushi roll…mmmm!

What do you do when you have free time?

I read, take long walks with my dog, and go sailing on the San Diego Bay.

What can readers expect from you next?

I have a pair of YA historical romances coming soon. We're calling it "Bridgerton meets The Summer I Turned Pretty." SO EXCITED!

HOW NOT TO HATE A DUKE by Jennifer Haymore

How Not to Hate a Duke

From USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Haymore comes an engaging and playful enemies-to-lovers romance about what happens when a high-minded heiress clashes with the dastardly duke next door…

Georgiana Milford may be a wealthy heiress without title, but even she has her limits. It’s vexing enough to be courted by every fortune-hunting noble during the Season—goodness, you’d think she was hiding a gold mine beneath her skirts! But this is not to be condoned. Because during a merry two-week party at a lord’s country home, she’s forced to endure her father’s greatest enemy and the most wretched duke in all of England: the Duke of Despots.

Theo St. Clair has hardly been the Seventh Duke of Desborough long enough to straighten his cravat, yet the ton are already nipping at his bootstraps. Starting with the Milford family who are convinced he’s exactly like his blaggard of a father. Unfortunately, nothing tempts the scoundrel in him more than the prospect of kissing the prim-and-proper-ness right off Georgiana Milford’s lovely lips...

Now they’re trapped together, forced to wear polite smiles while they trade acidic barbs and pretend to ignore the growing tension charging the air between them. But while there is danger in ruin, it’s the devastating secret her family has been hiding that will shatter Georgiana’s world…

About Jennifer Haymore

Jennifer Haymore

Jennifer Haymore grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii, where she surfed, learned how to fly airplanes, raced bicycles, and developed a love for sailing. She was an avid reader and completely destroyed her eyesight by sneaking a flashlight under her covers and reading far into the nights — making her mother wonder why on earth she couldn't get up for school in the mornings...

Jennifer holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from UC Berkeley and a master's degree in Education from UCLA. Before she became a full–time writer she held various jobs from bookselling to teaching inner–city children to playing bit roles in soap operas.

You can find Jennifer in Southern California trying to talk her husband into yet another trip to England, helping her three children with homework while brainstorming a new five–minute dinner menu, or crouched in a corner of the local bookstore writing her next novel.
