The Scandals and Scoundrels of Drury Lane hits ereaders this week with the release of the first book in the series, THE DUKE OF DRURY LANE by Tammy Andresen. Each Tuesday through October, another of the 8 novellas about the backstage shenanigans of a Regency theater company will be released, until the joint cast of characters finally get their production on stage.

Here at Fresh Fiction, we thought it would be fun to get to know the series a little better by asking the 8 authors a little bit more about their characters.

The Disaster of Drury Lane by Merry Farmer

Most likely to bet his salary on a card game?

ANSWER: Florizel Holland from THE DISASTER OF DRURY LANE. Bet his salary on a card game? Flory bets himself in a card game…and loses.

The Scoundrel of Drury Lane by Lauren Smith

Most likely to win a dockside barfight?

ANSWER: Kit Hollingsworth, the Earl of Kentwell from THE SCOUNDREL OF DRURY LANE because he was forced to live in servitude as a convict in Australia under very rough conditions and was hardened by seven years of that life.

The Devil of Drury Lane by Tracy Sumner

Most likely to keep secrets?

ANSWER: Lady Mercy Ainsworth from THE DEVIL OF DRURY LANE. As the daughter of an earl, Mercy hides her artistic gifts behind a gentile societal facade. In secret, she is a portraitist and illustrator. Her most recent commission is posters for a Drury Lane production. Her childhood crush, Damien DeWitt, sees it in a shop window and realizes this is the girl he used to know. He still carries a sketch she drew of him in his pocket.

Most likely to hide kittens in his study?

Answer: Mr. Malcolm Hollandale from THE DUCHESS OF DRURY LANE. Malcolm believes all is fair in love and war. He’s not beneath recruiting an army of furballs to capture Miss Celeste Worsley’s heart even if it’s promised to another. She may think she’s a dutiful society miss, but Malcolm is about to prove her wrong.

Most likely to give a massage?

ANSWER: Drake Ducat from THE DUKE OF DRURY LANE. While many people think he is too exacting, he pays attention to detail, and he can tell that Lily Grey needs a massage more than anything else.

THE HELLION OF DRURY LANE

Most likely to refuse help even though they really need it?

ANSWER: Samantha Billings from THE HELLION OF DRURY LANE. She wants to prove that she can run her carpentry business without any help because so many people in power doubt her.

Most likely to know the difference between oil and watercolor paints?

ANSWER: Lady Giselle from THE DEBUTANTE OF DRURY LANE. As a Duke’s daughter, she has spent years studying all the things a refined lady would know.

THE DEBUTANTE OF DRURY LANE

Most likely to have never had sugar?

ANSWER: Oliver Chow from THE HELLION OF DRURY LANE. He grew up at Northfield Hall, a (fictional) Regency estate that boycotts sugar and all other colonial imports.

Most likely to catalog the theater’s scripts into a proper library?

ANSWER: Lady Giselle, our playwright from THE DEBUTANTE OF DRURY LANE, because she is also Mr. Dodd’s Personal Assistant.

THE DUCHESS OF DRURY LANE

Most likely to make the first move?

ANSWER: Miss Celeste Worsley from THE DUCHESS OF DRURY LANE. Celeste fell in love with Mr. Malcolm Hollandale the first time she saw him even though she’s soon to be promised to another. She only has one night to love Malcolm and she’s not going to waste it.

Most likely to pine for years instead of admitting their feelings?

ANSWER: Oliver Penhurst from THE DISASTER OF DRURY LANE. Oliver loves words of all kinds…just not speaking them aloud. Especially where love is concerned.

The Phantom Of Drury Lane by Kate Bateman

Most likely to belong to a book club?

ANSWER: Lucy Montgomery from THE PHANTOM OF DRURY LANE. After being shipwrecked with a single copy of Shakespeare’s Complete Works, adventurous Lucy’s back in London, and would be delighted to discuss any books at all . . . even with the mysterious Phantom!

Most likely to have a wild assortment of hair ribbons which attract brooding gentlemen?

ANSWER: Suzannah Townsend from THE SCOUNDREL OF DRURY LANE because she loves to paint and loves a wild variety of colors and always puts a new brightly colored ribbon in her hair each day.

THE DUKE OF DRURY LANE by Tammy Andresen

The Scandals and Scoundrels of Drury Lane #1

The Duke of Drury Lane

Dubbed the DIFFICULT DUKE Drake Ducat is a man of particular tastes. He craves perfection and he has the power and presence to shape his world to his needs.

Which is why he hires the beautiful Lily Grey to help him decorate his box at the Drury Lane Theater. Her unique eye and attention to every detail make her an ideal designer.

But what starts as a simple job is turning into so much more…

Because velvet drapes are best touched, and fur throws laid upon, and feather fringe…

The sizzling passion building between them is unlike any he’s ever known, but every time he thinks he’s caught Lily in a web tight enough to hold her, she slips away, the secrets of her past filling the space between them.

That’s all right. Drake is nothing if not persistent.

He always gets what he wants.
And what he wants now is…

HER.
