2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
If you like the early seasons of You, you’ll love You Look Beautiful Tonight.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I recently visited Nashville, TN, and it was gorgeous and full of a culture unlike most you see these days. It was an incredibly fun visit, and I thought that vibe would balance well with my main character’s personality.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Probably! She’s meek and keeps to herself, so I think a better question is if she would hang out with me! But I think Mia, once you really get to know her, is a good friend.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Quiet, introvert, reticent.
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
This book is a reminder to us all to love ourselves and find confidence in our uniqueness rather than weakness.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
Both. It depends on the book and timeline. There are times that I love to edit as I write because it helps develop future chapters. There are other times that I am so focused on where my story is going that I want to get there and get it written before I dive back into the previous chapters.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Mac n cheese and chocolate.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
In bed with my fur babies.
10--Who is an author you admire?
I’m going to say Charlaine Harris. Not only is she talented but she has remained humble and sweet with success.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
My book, If I Were You. It went to auction and was optioned to Hollywood and solidified my career.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
My agent told me via email! I was beyond thriller and so honored to get to work with Thomas and Mercer on this book and my next one, too.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Mystery thrillers.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
Oh, that is hard. My husband and I love the movies period, the whole experience of going to the theater and we watch all genres. But Tombstone is a favorite. It’s old, but such perfection. There aren’t a lot of movies with that much talent that all shine at once.
15--What is your favorite season?
The holiday season. What better time to snuggle in and enjoy a great book?
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Not working, if I can make that happen :) But also with lots of mac n cheese, chocolate, and love from my family.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
Yellowstone!
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Pasta all the way!
19--What do you do when you have free time?
Work out, walks with my goldens and hubby, travel.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
The Wedding Party will be gracing ereaders and shelves this coming February! Until then, I will also be releasing two new additions to my Lilah Love series (The Ghost Assassin and Assassin vs. Agent) - all three of those titles are thrillers.
