"Has she found an admirer or a killer?"

Fresh Fiction Review

You Look Beautiful Tonight

Suspense | Thriller Psychological

Mia Anderson is used to being overlooked, it doesn't really bother her all that much even when her parents seem to forget she even exists, especially her mother. But somewhere along the way, this 32-year-old librarian has picked up an admirer. Why anyone would write Mia a note stating how lovely she is? She has no idea who it is or that things are just about to become a nightmare.

YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL TONIGHT starts out innocently but soon builds into a thriller that has you trying to read faster. L.R. Jones also writes as Lisa Renee Jones, and is known for her steamy romances. Anyone looking for or expecting that type of read will be disappointed, but if you want to find something that will keep you up at night, YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL TONIGHT is that book! Mia's life is simple but a friend keeps pushing her to "get out there" and talks her into setting up a dating profile, and from there, things go too far... and people begin to die.

There is a lot of darkness in YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL TONIGHT as well as twists and turns that seem to come out of nowhere. As a fan of mysteries, I try to predict the bad guy and I have to admit I had two chosen so the real baddie wasn't quite a surprise. The truth that comes forth during the investigation leaves Mia shocked, but those details make for the perfect wrap-up for readers. I liked what came up in the aftermath of the investigation, especially with a certain F.B.I. agent. It just might have readers, who like to have some romantic moments in a good read, thinking maybe Mia won't be overlooked or invisible after all. She has so earned a happily-ever-after in my mind, so I plan to see it just that way in my thoughts.

To be honest there is little that can be said in describing this book because what is said might be looked at as spoilers. All I can add is if you want a psychological thriller, with a young woman who begins to become more confident, an admirer that just might be crazy, and a multitude of twists and turns then YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL TONIGHT will give you all of that and more!

SUMMARY

A secret admirer’s devotion turns deadly in a twisting novel of psychological suspense.

Mia Anderson is an invisible woman. An unremarkable thirty-two-year-old Tennessee librarian, she’s accustomed to disappearing in a crowd, unseen and unheard. Then she receives an anonymous note: You look beautiful today.

It doesn’t stop there. The attentive stranger - a secret admirer named Adam - has plans for Mia. With each new text comes a suggestion for her hair, clothes, or attitude, and for the first time in memory, Mia feels noticed. Slowly, she develops a confidence in herself she’s never had. But Adam has a surprise coming…and Mia finally sees him for who he is and what he’s prepared to do for her. Even kill.

Fearing she could be implicated in the murder, Mia’s forced to turn to the stranger in the shadows watching her every move. Adam’s game of cat and mouse begins with Mia as the prey. In order to survive, she must also become the predator.
