D is for Death, which Bàs was named by his anguished father when Bas’s mother died giving birth to him. Bàs means Death in Scots Gaelic.
B is for Beasts, which Bàs keeps because they don’t judge him. He often thinks he’d rather be a beast than a man.
E is for Elephants, which are not in this book because the first elephant was seen in Scotland in 1681 and this series takes place in the 1590s.
A is for the Annoying Arse, Joshua, Bàs’s older brother who I find hilarious.
S is for Stones that Bàs collects for each one of his kills, setting them in an intricate rock garden as a memorial.
T is for Tortured, because Bàs is my most tortured hero with the biggest heart (and biceps!).
