1--What is the title of your latest release?

MURDER, SHE WROTE DEATH ON THE EMERALD ISLE

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

While out for a bicycle ride in Bushmills, Northern Ireland, Jessica Fletcher discovers the dead body of a man who is the cousin of her neighbor in Cabot Cove.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

Jessica Fletcher visited various parts of the island of Ireland in episodes of the television series but hadn’t done so in any of the books. I decided it was time for her to visit Belfast, Bushmills and other captivating places in Northern Ireland

4--Would you hang out with your sleuth in real life?

Absolutely! Hanging out with Jessica has been a dream of mine since Season 1, Episode 1 of Murder, She Wrote aired in 1984

5--What are three words that describe your sleuth?

Mature, Honest, Forthright

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I learned a lot about the Titanic and the tragedy of its maiden voyage. The Titanic was built in Belfast and in Murder, She Wrote Death on the Emerald Isle Jessica attends a reception in the Titanic Museum.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I do a bit of both. I edit as I go along. Each day before I start anew, I read and edit the previous day’s writing. Then I edit each third of the book as I reach that word count. Finally, I edit the book as a whole before submission.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Vanilla Ice Cream and if there are bits of chocolate in it so much the better

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I write in a small guest bedroom. The closet is filled with boxes of books and there is a folding table and a file cabinet, both crammed with research material. I often spread chapters out on the bed. Needless to say, I don’t often have company stay over. It is too difficult to get the room ship shape.

10--Who is an author you admire?

I admire many of my present day colleagues but of my predecessors, I have always admired Agatha Christie for her candor. My favorite Christie quote: “The best time for planning a book is while you're doing the dishes.”

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

Common Sense by Thomas Paine which he wrote to encourage American colonists to seek their independence from England. I read Common Sense when I was fourteen and it instilled in me a lifelong belief in human rights and dignity.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

It was St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2020. As a nation our pandemic quarantine had just begun. I was playing Irish music, baking Irish Soda Bread and bemoaning that there was no St. Patrick’s Day Parade when the telephone rang and my agent, the wonderful Kim Lionetti, asked if I would be interested in writing the next four books in the Murder She Wrote series. I shouted a resounding “Yes.” I knew instantly that in one of those four books, Jessica would travel to Ireland.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

In fiction: Cozy mysteries.  In nonfiction: American History

14--What’s your favorite movie?

This is a tie: One movie is the original version of The Magnificent Seven and the other movie is my July 4th must watch  1776. In fact, they are the only two movies I own. There is something about those sevens I guess!

15--What is your favorite season?

Autumn.

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

With any or all of my grandchildren and a lot of cake and ice cream

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

Annika, a new police procedural that takes place in Scotland. I view it on PBS.What I love about it is that the main character, DI Annika Strandhed, frequently breaks with the scene and talks to the audience as though we are buddies. It’s awesome!

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Any kind of breakfast food: eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles. Cook the eggs any way you like then mix and match ’em with whatever suits!

19--What do you do when you have free time?

Hang out with grandkids! I also walk a lot, ride a bike and love to spend time in the library, any library.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

Jessica Fletcher will be home in Cabot Cove. She’ll be getting her hair done at Loretta’s and hanging out with Seth Hazlitt and Mort Metzger, and, in case you were wondering, she will be solving a murder!

MURDER, SHE WROTE: DEATH ON THE EMERALD ISLE by Terrie Farley Moran

Murder, She Wrote: Death on the Emerald Isle

A trip to Northern Ireland becomes unexpectedly grim for Jessica Fletcher in this new entry in the USA Today bestselling Murder, She Wrote series.

Jessica Fletcher is quick to accept an invitation to replace a speaker who couldn’t attend a Book Festival in Belfast, Ireland. When her Cabot Cove neighbor Maeve O'Bannon hears about the trip, she asks Jessica to deliver some paintings to her family in the village of Bushmills. Happy to extend her travels and see more of the Irish countryside, Jessica agrees.

The festival goes off without a hitch, and it seems like Jessica is in for a relaxing vacation. But then Maeve’s cousin Michael is discovered dead under suspicious circumstances. Jessica finds herself once again in the midst of a murder investigation, and she’ll have to dig into the O'Bannon family’s secrets to unmask the killer.
