2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
Single mom discovers Mr. Wrong is actually Mr. Right in this heartwarming, small-town romance.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
This book is part of my Whisper Lake Series, which is a fictional town set in the Colorado mountains. I started the series after a few visits to my daughter, who was living in Denver at the time, and thought it would be fun to set a story in there.
4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?
Yes! Everyone would love to hang out with Chloe. She's the best kind of girlfriend, fiercely loyal and protective of her friends. She's the kind of person you call at two in the morning when you need someone who will show up for you. Chloe also runs a café, so there would be plenty of freebies, maybe some truffle fries or an extra dessert saved for one of her friends.
5--What are three words that describe your hero?
Adventurer, Wanderer, Builder
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
Since my hero is renovating a house, I had to learn a little more about building and what might cause someone to fall through the floor!
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I do both. I write a quick first draft that is part of my discovery process and then I do a lot of rewriting, which is one of my favorite things to do. During the rewriting process, I can hone my ideas and polish everything up!
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
A really good cheesy lasagna always feels too decadent but so delicious.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
I have an office in my house, where I do a lot of my business tasks, but I often write on my patio when it's sunny or in a big, comfy chair in my bedroom. So I tend to move around a bit.
10--Who is an author you admire?
There are so many authors I enjoy reading, it's impossible to name one. But one of my favorite writers is Kristin Hannah. I've loved her books since she was writing romance and enjoy her fiction novels now as well.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott, which is a writing book but also a great book for just getting things done in life.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)
That was a long time ago! But I did get a call from my editor and was, of course, thrilled to be published. I remember thinking that I'd be satisfied just to sell one book. But I've now published eighty novels and there's no end in sight!
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Romance! But I also love the variety within romance, such as romantic suspense. And lately, I am also loving psychological and domestic thrillers.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
One of my favorite older romantic movies is While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock!
15--What is your favorite season?
Summer. Give me blue skies and warm weather, and I'm very happy. This is probably why I write and read so many beach books!
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I'm not that big into parties but I love to go out to dinner and spend time with my family.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
I've been enjoying Emily in Paris, which is so much fun! On a darker note, I've been watching Yellowstone, which is also very good.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Mexican. I love anything with cheese and guacamole on it!
19--What do you do when you have free time?
I play tennis and pickleball. I'm also enjoying an aqua fitness class three days a week. I love to be active and to get outside!
20--What can readers expect from you next?
My new book, NEXT TIME I FALL, is out this week. Next up, I'll be publishing a romantic suspense FATAL BETRAYAL, which is part of my OFF THE GRID: FBI SERIES.
