ANSWER: Oooh, this is a toughie, because all my heroes are sexy and damn good at kissing. But I’m gonna have to go with Groz (Asher) on this one because he’s got so much…experience in that department. Experience he puts to good use as he turns up the heat on Mia in Sudden Impact.
Most tragic backstory?
ANSWER: Everleigh, from Final Shot. Oh, man, poor Everleigh… She’s already been through so much in her life, and I put her and Grady through even more in their book. If any two characters ever deserved a happy ending, it’s these two.
Most likely to be attracted to a bad boy?
ANSWER: Mia, from Sudden Impact. As a psychologist she likes to figure out what makes people tick, and Groz intrigues and infuriates her in equal measure. Even though she’s well aware of his reputation, once he sets his sights on her she can’t stop herself from falling under his spell.
Most likely to make you wish you were their friend?
ANSWER: Jaia, from Cornered. People might not notice her initially or even overlook her because she’s quiet and introverted, but she’s smart and as loyal as they come to those lucky enough to be included in her inner circle. Not only does she have a heart of pure gold, she’s also a bibliophile who runs a book club. Come on. What more could you possibly want in a friend?
Most likely to break the rules?
ANSWER: Groz from Sudden Impact. He’s all about pushing boundaries or outright smashing through obstacles standing in the way of something he wants. And what he wants more than anything is Mia. Lucky girl.
Most likely to be a Boy Scout?
ANSWER: This is Walker to a T. His rigid moral compass sees very little grey, even after working in intelligence for most of his adult life. It guarantees a head-on collision with badass and morally ambiguous Ivy in Fatal Fallout.
Most badass heroine?
ANSWER: Ivy, hands down. She’s a former Valkyrie, so old habits die hard. And she makes sure her enemies die hard too. Good thing she and Walker are on the same side in Fatal Fallout.
Most likely to push a long time crush out of the friend zone?
ANSWER: Travis from the first book of the series, Falling Hard. I love heroes who are dying for a shot with the heroine, and PJ team leader Travis has wanted his best friend’s sister Kerrigan for a long time. When he finally sees his shot, he takes it. And he makes sure he doesn’t miss.
Most likely to be tempted by forbidden love?
ANSWER: Donovan from Protective Impulse. He’s assigned to Anaya as her personal bodyguard. He’s a professional to his core and knows the rules of his assignment better than anyone. He knows he has to keep his hands off Anaya, but she sneaks past his defenses. Everyone has a breaking point, and the remote Donovan is about to find his.
Most likely to risk his life deep in enemy territory to save the woman he loves?
ANSWER: While all my heroes exhibit this trait to some extent, and especially my PJ heroes, there’s one particular hero in this series that stands out for me here. Former Delta Force operator Callum Falconer in Unsanctioned. He puts his life on the line to leads a select team to rescue Nadia during the chaotic and deadly fall of Kabul. This one is as tense as it gets.
