1--What is the title of your latest release?

THE BACK NINE (40s, Love, and Romance)

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

They were childhood best friends despite his elite status and her working girl roots. Now, he’s old D.C. politics meets Hollywood royalty, and she’s crawled her way into society. All curves and passion, Ford cannot resist his James, the girl with the silver eyes. In a bicoastal love affair, will this 40+ couple find a happily ever after?

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

When I decided Ford would come from a political family, the location chose me! Outside D.C., and of course, now Los Angeles for his new digs.

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

For sure! She’s the perfect mix of smart, humble, cool, classic, and a fab sounding board. Her friend, Val, is lucky to have her!

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

  1. Looking better with age, so sexy...
  2. Intelligent. 3. Messy hair, don’t care.

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

Redheads have more fun! Lol! Usually, the “bad girl” in my stories is the redhead. I have no idea why, but it was exciting to have a ginger heroine who wins the day!

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I write a chapter or two, and then go back and read them again before writing the next, editing and adding and changing...

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Krispy Kreme

9--Describe your writing space/office!

My office is yellow and painted with sunflowers, and I rarely use it. In the warm weather, I prefer to sit outside and write. In the winter, I camp out near the fireplace with the dogs.

10--Who is an author you admire?

Robinne Lee. I don’t want to give away anything, but she is the ONLY author to get me to read and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a book with the way her story ends...

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

This will probably leave a few people chuckling, but The Twilight Series. My kids were little (I think second grade and kindergarten), and I had been in a major reading slump. I started Twilight and ignored the world around me for the next week until I finished all four books.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

I self-published my first book in 2014 after a producer for the Katie Couric Show encouraged me to do so.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Romance, Suspense, and New Adult.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

The Town with Ben Affleck (I love an anti-hero), and The Family Stone with Sarah Jessica Parker.

15--What is your favorite season?

Summer.

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

With doughnuts and cupcakes after a long run! Lol!

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

White Lotus and Sex Lives of College Girls are my most recent fave shows. Books include Every Summer After by Carley Fortune and anything Devney Perry writes!

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Coffee. Is that a cuisine?

19--What do you do when you have free time?

Read, walk my dogs, hang with my college-aged kids, or ride my Peloton (I ride or run every day—writing forces me to sit a lot, and I need to counteract all that time on my butt).

20--What can readers expect from you next?

Book Two of this series, 40’s, Love, and Romance, featuring Billy Conway and her doctor interest. Billy is a Hollywood starlet and her beau, a doctor in the D.C. area. With sparks flying and tensions high with her bodyguard, this is another hot cross-country affair!

THE BACK NINE by Rachel Blaufeld

The Back Nine

James “Jamie” Silver is all grown up, working for the same high-profile, uberwealthy people she’s spent her entire life surrounded by—as the outsider. With a new hairstyle and a sliver of confidence, she attacks the role daily…because since she was the scholarship kid at a hoity-toity District of Columbia prep school, Jamie has never quite belonged. Especially when it comes to her longtime BFF and secret crush, Ford Conway III.

As the oldest son of a Supreme Court justice and the world’s savviest society lady, Ford Conway was meant to attend prep school and grow into someone great. His mom never predicted he’d befriend the charity case. Much to her chagrin, as young kids and college classmates, Ford and Jamie were inseparable.

The duo shared all their secrets, until graduation, when they shared a magical night.

That is, until Ford forced himself to run away from his family’s political ties and his growing feelings for Jamie Silver.
Now a famous Hollywood producer, Ford makes his own rules. Except when his father becomes gravely ill, he’s forced to come home and runs head-on into the only woman who ever captured his heart. Although Jamie doesn’t remotely resemble the girl he fell for decades ago, his heart doesn’t care. But his mom certainly does…

In a cross-country second chance love story, the pair embark on discovering one another as adults and finding happiness in their back nine.

About Rachel Blaufeld

Rachel Blaufeld

Rachel Blaufeld is a bestselling author of Romantic Suspense, New Adult, Coming-of-Age Romance, and Sports Romance. A recent poll of her readers described her as insightful, generous, articulate, and spunky. Originally a social worker, Rachel creates broken yet redeeming characters. She’s been known to turn up the angst like cranking up the heat in the dead of winter.

A devout coffee drinker and doughnut eater, Rachel spends way too many hours in local coffee shops, downing the aforementioned goodies while she plots her ideas. Her tales may all come with a side of angst and naughtiness, but end as lusciously as her treats.

When she isn’t writing, she can be found courtside, tweeting about hoops as her son plays, or walking around the house wearing earplugs while her other son, the drummer, bangs away.
