Elizabeth Heiter | Double the Story, Double the Determined Heroines!

Instagramamazonpinterestgoodreadsbookbubtwitterfacebook

If you read my blog post last month, you already know about my Dec. 27 release, K-9: Tracking the Target (the duo book containing both K-9 Cold Case and K-9 Hideout), and the two heroes who have a desire to protect and a soft spot for their K-9 companions. Now, I’d like to introduce the heroines, Keara Hernandez and Sabrina Jones.

At first glance, Keara (the police chief in the remote Alaskan town of Desparre) and Sabrina (a graphic artist on the run from a stalker) have little in common. Keara went from big-city detective to the only woman (and the leader) on a police force far from home. Determined to move on from the murder of her husband, she throws herself into her new job and wins the respect of a police force who initially doubted the outside woman.

Sabrina is less practical and career-focused and more determined just to survive each day. She’ll do whatever it takes – even sacrifice herself – to prevent her stalker from hurting anyone else after he murdered her boyfriend. Cutting off all contact with family and friends for two years is as disheartening as the trek to stay one step ahead of her stalker is exhausting. Then she lands in Desparre and thinks she may have finally outrun the danger. When it becomes clear her stalker has found her yet again, she decides to finally make a stand.

Both are strong women who have learned to rely on just themselves. They’ve resigned themselves to focusing on what’s best for others instead of what they need. And both are unprepared for the heroes who enter their lives.

For Keara, FBI victim specialist Jax Diallo is the opposite of her police detective husband. Her husband was brash and outspoken and a trained first responder who was ambushed and murdered in their own backyard. Jax may work for the FBI, but his background is in psychology, and he and his FBI K-9 Patches focus on helping victims, not chasing down suspects or running into danger. So, when the bomber in her small town with a potential connection to her husband’s murder targets Jax, she’s terrified of losing someone else she cares for, because how can someone whose primary weapon is his mind be prepared for this kind of threat?

For Sabrina, police officer Tate Emory may be the hero she’s been waiting for - and his K-9 police dog Sitka knows exactly how to steal her heart. The first police officer who thinks he can actually help her, Tate is willing to put his life on the line to get Sabrina’s back for her. She’s grateful for the help, for the chance to possibly finally see her friends and family again, to return to the life she left behind. But the more she gets to know him, the less she wants to see him in danger – and the more she realizes that he’s hiding his own secrets that might threaten them both.

For these determined heroines, risking themselves to get answers, to get closure and safety, is one thing. But risking themselves in love may be a lot scarier. I hope you’ll join Keara and Sabrina at the end of the month as they run headfirst into danger…and both fall in love in the process.

K-9: TRACKING THE TARGET by Elizabeth Heiter

K-9: Tracking the Target

Hunting a dangerous prey

K-9 Cold Case

With the help of his K-9 companion, Patches, FBI victim specialist Jax Diallo vows to help police chief Keara Hernandez solve the attacks rocking their Alaskan community. Evidence suggests the crimes are connected to her husband’s long-unsolved murder. And the strikes are becoming more personal. When dodging bullets becomes a daily event, Jax risks everything to keep his beautiful new partner from meeting a violent end…

K-9 Hideout

Police handler Tate Emory is thankful that Sabrina Jones saved his trusty K-9 companion, Sitka, but he didn’t sign up for national media exposure. That publicity unveils his true identity to the dirty Boston cops he took down…and brings Sabrina’s murderous stalker even closer to his target. With their covers blown, Tate will risk his life—and his guarded heart—to save Sabrina from a fatal end.
