1--What is the title of your latest release?

WE KNEW ALL ALONG

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

Jewelann’s revenge kiss with an old flame backfires when he shows up as the new tenant in her backyard garage apartment. Some secrets can never be buried deep enough, and some choices can never be undone.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

I usually like to set my books in or around places I live or visit often enough to feel like I know. I moved to Ohio only four years ago, so it setting this book in my “new” town felt right.

4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?

Jewelann loves estate sales, so we’d probably road-trip around to all of them, and then have a glass of wine while we talk about how cool it is that tomatoes keep turning red after you pick them…so yes!

5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?

Determined. Maternal. Passionate.

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

When to plant garlic. I have not yet managed to grow any successfully, but there’s always this season!

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

It depends on the book. Usually, I write fast, chapters out of order, then dig deep into revisions and stitch all the pieces together. If a book’s really giving me trouble, though, I will go back to the start and work my way forward, revising until I get to a new place where I get the story back. Sometimes I do that a few times, so by the end, the beginning of the book is essentially finished while I revise the end.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Bread and cheese. Fresh bread and fancy cheese. Or non-fancy cheese, I don’t care. I love bread and cheese!

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I live in an old house, built in 1943, and my office is what I suspect was the master bedroom upstairs since it doesn’t have any dormers. It’s a rectangle. I have some small regret about not picking one of the other rooms with nooks and more closets, but this one seemed the best suited as an office. I have six bookcases, all stuffed with books. I have a nice desk that used to be much bigger, but when I moved to Ohio, I only brought one piece of it, which works out better since there’s less space for clutter! I work on an iMac, and I have a paper desk calendar where I keep track of my deadlines. I also have a comfy chair with a fun table/lamp overflowing with magazines I promise myself I’ll read but never do…oh, and a vintage cookbook I’m slowly reading, too! I spend so many hours in my office that I want it to be comfy and full of things that make me happy, and it does.

10--Who is an author you admire?

n/a

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

The Stand by Stephen King made me realize people wrote books for a living, and I decided that was what I wanted to do, at age 12. I’d say it made a big impact!

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.

For We Knew All Along, I got an email – but it was as exciting as a phone call! The first time I got “the call” was back in 2005 or so, and that was breathtaking. Honestly, it never gets old, though, no matter how I hear the news!

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

I love to read horror, SF, domestic suspense/thrillers, sexy romance, historical fiction…I really love to read most anything!

14--What’s your favorite movie?

The Rocky Horror Picture show stands out as an all-time, perpetual favorite. Movies I could watch yearly: Equilibrium, The Matrix, Love Actually, An American Werewolf in London, The Howling, Moulin Rouge, The Red Shoe Diaries.

15--What is your favorite season?

Autumn

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

Good food, good company!

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I don’t watch TV in “real time” but I will always recommend Supernatural (TV)

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

I can’t possibly pick one! Is bread and cheese a cuisine?

19--What do you do when you have free time?

I like to sew, but I’m bad at it. I love going to estate sales. I read, watch movies, and play games with my husband.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

I’m hard at work writing another Mina Hardy tale of wonderful people making bad choices, terrible people making good choices, and everything in between! Tentatively titled Price Above Rubies it’s about a young, pregnant widow who has to rely on the help of the mother-in-law she always thought was dead. DUN DUN DUNNNNN!!!

WE KNEW ALL ALONG by Mina Hardy

We Knew All Along

Writing as Mina Hardy, New York Times bestselling author Megan Hart, delivers a twisted tale of domestic suspense where no one is what they seem—and the skeletons in the closet are all too real.

Blame the booze, her shaky marriage, her troubled son, or a thousand other things. Jewelann Jordan has one thing on her mind when she attends her class reunion, and that's making sure her old crush Christian Campbell sees exactly what he lost all those years ago. A late night, a hotel room, a rekindled flame that burns even hotter than it did back then. What could go wrong?

Everything.

The night with Christian isn't the first secret Jewelann has kept from her husband Ken, so one more shouldn't be much harder--except that Christian shows up without warning, seemingly determined to do his best to mess up Jewelann's life in any way he can. Worse than that, he seems to have his sights set on charming her son, Eli, and befriending her husband. Revenge isn't so sweet when it bites you back, but Jewelann is determined to keep Christian from ruining everything she's worked so hard to keep safe, including her son.

Fighting to keep it all from spiraling out of control, Jewelann discovers Christian is not the man he claims to be. When darker secrets emerge, even closer to home, Jewelann takes the chance to turn the tables on him. The more Jewelann digs for the truth, the uglier--and the deadlier--it gets.
