1--What is the title of your latest release?

MURDER ON THE POET’S WALK, A Book Retreat Mystery

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

When writers compete to win a lucrative greeting card contract, things turn murderously ugly.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

This is part of a series, so it had to take place at my fictional resort, Storyton Hall.

4--Would you hang out with your sleuth in real life?

Absolutely. Jane Steward is smart, fun, and loyal. She also has access to the best food and hosts tons of fabulous literary events.

5--What are three words that describe your sleuth?

Intrepid, intelligent, and loving.

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I learned that people who write greeting cards are often paid by the card (and not very much!)

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I edit at the end of each chapter.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Where to start? I have a sweet tooth and there isn’t a candy in production that I don’t have a close, personal relationship with.

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I write at the kitchen table (so I can see my bird feeders).

10--Who is an author you admire?

I am a fan of many authors, but I’ll limit my answer to William Kent Kreuger, Alice Hoffman, Jodi Picoult, John Steinbeck, Tolkien, Austen.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

I remember reading A Wrinkle in Time and feeling like I was “seen.” That’s when I learned that I would never be lonely if I had books in my life.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

It was on a Monday, and ever since then, my agent (she is Wonder Woman in disguise) has called to give me good news on a Monday. I was thrilled. I danced around the living room. And then I was terrified. I wondered if I could really make a career out of my childhood dream.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Literary, women’s, and historical fiction as well as mystery, thriller, and classics.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

Star Wars

15--What is your favorite season?

Summer and Fall

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

I like to order a special edition of a favorite book and eat cake!

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I love Loot (Apple TV) and The Rings of Power (on Prime). I’m also rewatching all the BBC Marple and Poirot episodes on Prime.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

French followed by Mediterranean

19--What do you do when you have free time?

Read, bake, garden, scroll book accounts on Instagram, and clean up after my cats.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

Paper Cuts, book 5 in The Secret, Book, and Scone Society mystery series, comes out Spring 2023.

MURDER ON THE POET'S WALK by Ellery Adams

A Book Retreat Mystery 8

Murder on the Poet's Walk

As Jane eagerly anticipates the wedding of her best friend Eloise Alcott, Storyton Hall is overrun with poets in town to compete for a coveted greeting card contract. They’re everywhere, scrawling verses on cocktail napkins in the reading rooms or seeking inspiration strolling the Poet’s Walk, a series of trails named after famous authors. But the Tennyson Trail leads to a grim surprise: a woman’s corpse drifting in a rowboat on a lake, a crumpled copy of “The Lady of Shallot” in her lifeless fist.
