1--What is the title of your latest release?

HER COWBOY WEDDING DATE

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

A rogue wedding planner brings best man, Carter Sloan and maid of honor, Tess Palmer together to rescue her cousin’s wedding. But planning a trip down the aisle leads to an unexpected love for Carter and Tess too.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

HER COWBOY WEDDING DATE is Book Three in my Three Springs, Texas series. Fortunately, I have an established town to set these stories in.

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Absolutely. One of my favorite parts of writing is creating characters and communities that I would want to be a part of.

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

Cowboy. Cynical. Always business-first.

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I learned a lot of wedding traditions, beyond just the something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. I have two daughters so maybe one day if they decide to get married, we can use some of the fun traditions I discovered in my research.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

In a perfect world, I would draft and edit once. But that’s not my world. LOL!!! I write a fast draft first then I edit that. Then I draft more – especially if those first scenes no longer work. Then I edit again. It seems to be an on-going loop of drafting and editing until the book comes together and I discover the heart of the story.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Right now, I’m addicted to gummy bears and Swedish fish (these are my go-to deadline snacks and I’m in serious deadline mode right now.) As for indulgences, I have to say cheesecake and gnocchi. I make both at home, but when I’m at a restaurant if gnocchi and/or cheesecake are on the menu, I’m ordering it.

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I’m fortunate to have my own office in our house. I have three Minions that sit on my desk, right in front of the word count on my computer screen. It’s no fun watching the word count not move. Or go backwards when I hit the delete key. LOL!!! And Minions are my favorite – they make me smile. I also have wireless headphones which have been life changing now that my husband works from home too - basically right beside me.

10--Who is an author you admire?

I have a long list of romance authors I aspire to be like – there are so many talented and great romance authors out there. And I admire any author who has written a book and had the courage to put it out there into the world – it’s not an easy thing to do.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

In terms of my writing world, Goal, Motivation, & Conflict by Deb Dixon. As well as the Writers Helping Writers Book Series by Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi – most especially, The Emotional Wound Thesaurus. And The Emotion Thesaurus is always within reach for every book I write. I can’t recommend these books enough.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

My good friends and writing tribe, Melinda Curtis and Anna J. Stewart, invited me to be a part of a box set that was being independently published titled, A Heartwarming Christmas. We’ve gone on to publish 6 more box sets in Christmas Town – all sweet contemporary connected romances by Harlequin Heartwarming Authors. During that same time, I was also fortunate to be a part of an anthology with Melinda Curtis and Anna J. Stewart titled: Make Me a Match that was published by Harlequin Heartwarming. I got the news that the anthology was going to be published from Melinda and Anna, then a call from my editor. Such an exciting day!

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Romance – it’s been my favorite genre since I can remember. Inside of romance, I love historical romances, paranormal romances, and really fun contemporary romances. And I like everything from sweet to sexy – for me, it’s all about the romance and falling in love.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

Well, that depends on my mood. LOL! But I can tell you a few movies that if I see them on the TV guide, I will click to that channel every single time. They are: Crazy Rich Asians, Cinderella (live action), Legally Blonde, Ten Things I Hate About You and My Fair Lady. I also can’t resist Harry Potter movies.

15--What is your favorite season?

I like the Christmas Season. LOL!!! But there’s such a wonderful sense of renewal in Spring that I look forward to Spring each year.

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

With family and friends – add in good food and a glass of wine and it’s a perfect day. I usually make a cheesecake too – that’s my cake of choice.

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I just watched Marry Me and thought it was wonderful. Such a fun movie.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Italian – there’s nothing better than homemade pasta and sauce (unless it’s homemade cheesecake. Clearly, I have a thing for cheesecake – I’ve talked about it so much here that now I want some.)

19--What do you do when you have free time?

I puzzle and play games with my family – currently it’s Dominoes and Sorry – the Pets Behaving Badly edition. I also read lots of cooking blogs – I’m always searching for new recipes. I like to wind down at night with the Food Channel or I stream a cooking show.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

In November, HER FAVORITE WYOMING SHERIFF will release – this book is part of a continuity series, The Wyoming Blackwells that I wrote with my good friends and fellow Heartwarming Authors: Anna J. Stewart, Amy Vastine, Carol Ross, and Melinda Curtis.

About Cari Lynn Webb

Cari Lynn Webb

A non-stop flight from Honolulu to Chicago. A quick stop at the airport bookstore and Cari Lynn Webb discovered her love for romance. She cannot recall the book she bought, but she does remember finishing it somewhere over California, feeling pleased the murderer had been arrested (justice had prevailed). But frustration reigned as Cari searched for a hidden chapter or missed epilogue that would show the heroine and the FBI agent she’d fallen in love with living their happily-ever-after. (Surely love conquered all.) Except not in that particular book. Another trip to the bookstore in her grandparents’ home town and Cari discovered an entire section of books dedicated to the happily-ever-after. There she found Kathleen Woodiwiss, Judith McNaught and then Nora Robert … and she became a life-long romance reader.

Cari’s passion for reading had not dimmed years later when she found herself newly married and inside another bookstore during her lunch break. But the shelves of happily-ever-afters surrounding her couldn’t stem her frustration at not being able to find a new historical romance (Amazon wasn’t the household name it would become). So like any dedicated reader, Cari drove back to work, opened a word document and began to write the historical she wanted to read. Months later, she printed the manuscript, presented it to her husband and asked if she should pursue acting or continue writing. With her husband’s full support, she continued writing… and now she feeds her passion for romance with a stack of to-be read paperbacks in her nightstand, multiple downloads on her kindle and her own stories.

Cari believes in the power of love simply because she’d grown up surrounded by true love. She remembers her grandparents holding hands when she visited them as a kindergartner and still holding hands when her grandmother whispered her final goodbyes to her grandfather after 70 years together. Cari’s parents have been married over 50 years. And Cari is blessed to have married her own hero. She will be the first to tell you that true love isn’t always sweet and perfect, it can be challenging, complicated and risky. But in the end, there is nothing more worth fighting for.
