2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
A cybersecurity expert with a criminal past, teams up with a Diplomatic Security Services special agent to secure exposed assets, close security beaches and save lives.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
The easy answer—this was book 3 in a series set in Montana! But in general, I usually start with a nature setting that inspires me. I thought it would be fun to set a tech company in the middle of wild, beautiful Montana.
4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?
Oh, I don’t know—she might be too smart for me! Ha!
5--What are three words that describe your hero?
Dauntless, adventurous, gorgeous.
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
More than I wanted to know about the dark side of a hacker’s mind.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
Answer: I usually write a messy rough draft, and then spend the bulk of my allotted time rewriting and editing.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Answer: Cinnamon rolls! (I know, it’s weird. People usually say chocolate.)
9--Describe your writing space/office!
I recently took over the dining room. I moved the dining table to another spot which worked out perfectly and ordered a new office suite for the dining room. Hello new office! It’s a perfect setup. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen making meals for people, right? So, this way I can go back and forth—kitchen to laptop, laptop to kitchen—and multitask like a boss.
10--Who is an author you admire?
Oh, there are so many! That’s a hard call, but I’ll say Susan Sleeman. She can write faster than anyone I know, and her romantic suspense novels are super successful.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
Definitely—the Bible changed my life. I can’t think of another book that has the ability to change a person in the same powerful way.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)
CRITICAL ALLIANCE is book three in a series I sold a couple of years ago. I had already written a series for Revell, but with each new proposal I chew my nails and worry the publishing board won’t like it. The very cool thing about this Rocky Mountain Courage series is that it was the first series to be acquired by my editor—she was a new editor at Revell—so it was a memorable occasion.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Romantic suspense. Hands down.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
My favorite movie changes but right now I really love the new DUNE movie and could watch it over and over.
15--What is your favorite season?
I love autumn—it brings a wonderful sense of anticipation with it.
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Going out to eat so that I don’t have to cook or do the dishes!
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
I recently finished David Baldacci’s Atlee Pine series, and I think he’s a new favorite.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Is Chick-Fil-A a cuisine? No? Well, then it’s a toss-up between Italian and Mexican.
19--What do you do when you have free time?
Free time? I had to look at that up. Seriously, I take time for myself every evening during which I read novels.
