1--What is the title of your latest release?

AMERICAN ROYALTY

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

An American rapper crosses the pond to perform in a Royal Tribute concert and turns the palace upside down and the heart of the Prince inside out!

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

Once I decided to write a royalty romance, I knew I’d want to set it in a world that was my version of the British royal family.

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

OMG, yes! I love Dani! I think she would be incredibly fun!

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

Serious, Intellectual, Passionate

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

The customs and protocols for the modern-day aristocracy is vast. You can understand why they’d believe it would be easier to choose to marry someone who grew up in that world, as opposed to someone who hadn’t.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I wait until I’m totally done. I need to get something out on the paper. Revisions are my favorite part of writing.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Really good pizza! Thin, chewy crust, right amount of sauce and cheese, pepperoni & kalamata olives!

9--Describe your writing space/office!

My office is a constant work in progress. I get bored and change the configuration at least twice a year, but I think I’m pretty happy with the current set up. I have a large desk, a separate sitting area, a TV and lots of bookcases. My office is also at the front of my house, so I get lots of sunlight AND I can see who’s coming to my door!

10--Who is an author you admire?

I’m so lucky to be surrounded by author friends who inspire me daily. Their generosity, intelligence, business acumen and talent are always a wonder to behold. But if I had to choose an author it would be Ms. Beverly Jenkins. She’s been writing romances featuring black characters for decades and even with my short time in the business, I know how difficult that must have been. I admire the tenacity, will and sense of self she must possess to be able to write her stories and reach her audience year after year.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

The first romance novel I ever read. I don’t remember the title, just that it was a Silhouette Romance. I wouldn’t be the person I am today if that hadn’t happened.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

My first book? Wow, that was in 2012. I’d attended a conference and pitched to Karen Solem from Spencerhill Associates. Two months later, an agent from her agency called me. That was Nalini Akolekar and she’s still my agent to this day!

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Romance! Followed by non-fiction and mystery/thrillers.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

Ouch. That’s hard. I don’t think I have one.

15--What is your favorite season?

Fall! Hands down. I love the crispness of the air, I love wearing jeans, sweaters and boots and I love the colors and flavors of the season!

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

Truthfully, I’d love to celebrate alone, in quiet, watching movies, reading books, drinking wine and eating pizza! But that never happens. LOL, I end up spending it with my hubby & kids and it always reminds me how blessed my life is.

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I discovered a TV series on Peacock called Grand Crew. It was unexpected and I binged the entire season! It’s smart, funny, emotional, and fresh. I so hope it gets a second season.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Southern/Soul Food. It’s what my grandmother cooked and what I grew up eating.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

LOLOLOLOLOLOL—what’s that?

20--What can readers expect from you next?

The sequel to AMERICAN ROYALTY!

AMERICAN ROYALTY by Tracey Livesay

American Royalty

In this dangerously sexy rom-com that evokes the real-life romance between Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle, a prince who wants to live out of the spotlight falls for a daring American rapper who turns his life, and the palace, upside down.

Sexy, driven rapper Danielle “Duchess” Nelson is on the verge of signing a deal that’ll make her one of the richest women in hip hop. More importantly, it’ll grant her control over her life, something she’s craved for years. But an incident with a rising pop star has gone viral, unfairly putting her deal in jeopardy. Concerned about her image, she’s instructed to work on generating some positive publicity… or else.

A brilliant professor and reclusive royal, Prince Jameson prefers life out of the spotlight, only leaving his ivory tower to attend weddings or funerals. But with the Queen’s children involved in one scandal after another, and Parliament questioning the viability of the monarchy, the Queen is desperate. In a quest for good press, she puts Jameson in charge of a tribute concert in her late husband’s honor. Out of his depth, and resentful of being called to service, he takes the advice of a student. After all, what’s more appropriate for a royal concert than a performer named “Duchess”?

Too late, Jameson discovers the American rapper is popular, sexy, raunchy and not what the Queen wanted, although he’s having an entirely different reaction. Dani knows this is the good exposure she needs to cement her deal and it doesn't hurt that the royal running things is fine as hell. Thrown together, they give in to the explosive attraction flaring between them. But as the glare of the limelight intensifies and outside forces try to interfere, will the Prince and Duchess be a fairy tale romance for the ages or a disaster of palatial proportions?

Tracey Livesay

True Love in black & white

Tracey Livesay's novel, Love Will Always Remember, was the winner of the 2018 Emma Award for Best Interracial Romance. She writes smart, sexy and emotional contemporary romances where strong, successful heroines find love with powerful, passionate heroes.

She’s past president of Virginia Romance Writers, volunteers on several national committees for Romance Writers of America and is a member of their Published Author’s Network. She’s been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, Entertainment Weekly and on CBS This Morning. A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and a former criminal defense attorney, she finds crafting believable happily ever afters slightly more challenging than protecting our constitutional rights, but she’s never regretted following her heart instead of her law degree.

Tracey lives in Virginia with her husband--who she met on the very first day of law school--and their three children. When not answering the call of wife, mother or author, she watches planner videos on YouTube and daydreams about her next designer purse purchase.
