C.D. Gorri | 20 Questions: WITCH SHIELD

facebooktwittergoodreadsbookbubamazon

1--What is the title of your latest release?

WITCH SHIELD is my newest release coming June 30th.

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

This is book 5 in my Guardians of Chaos series. It features a male Witch whose job is to basically protect all magic. But can he do when his fated mate is a curvy human hellbent on proving its existence? Adventure, humor, and true love abound in this paranormal urban fantasy romance.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

Actually, I love answering this question because I set almost 95% of my books in my home state of New Jersey. And the ones that do not take place here, probably have a main character from the Garden State. There is simply so much understated beauty from the mountains, farms, and suburbs to its cities and beaches. In New Jersey, there is something for everyone.

4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?

Well, at first Egros is a bot volatile and uptight for a Witch with so much power. But he mellows out after he meets his true love in Margo, the kickass heroine of Witch Shield. Her, I would hang with no questions asked!

5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?

Because it is a romance there are technically 2. Egros I would describe with the following words: powerful, humble, and devoted. As for Margo, the following three words best suit her: badass, intuitive, communicative.

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I love research. It is one of my favorite parts of any new project, second only to the writing itself. I learned a good deal about male Witches, and the politics of being part of an elite group of warriors. My hero is unique in that he is the only male Witch in the entire group, and that changes the dynamics on how he interacts with everyone.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I edit constantly. Sometimes I think my brain autocorrects to a fault, but no, if I read a passage and there is something I want to change, I do it as I go.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

I come from a long line of bakers and chefs, and I have a deep and abiding love of food. I often incorporate food or cooking in my works, but when I am writing I am mostly a snacker. Jellybeans are one of my favorites and licorice whips.

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I am currently sitting at a desk in what used to be called a sunroom but is now my office/storage room. It has loads of windows, which I actually have to cover with opaque curtains so I can see my screen.

10--Who is an author you admire?

I am lucky to have so many indie authors that I can actually reach out and talk to in my everyday life, and there are far too many to name. A few are P. Mattern, Gina Kincade, Eve Langlais, and Julia Mills. Robyn Peterman is another hero of mine, and I am thrilled to be writing in her world this year for the first time.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

Probably The Pokey Little Puppy. LOL. Seriously, that is the first book I believe I ever read and once I started, I never stopped.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.

I have always wanted to write. Being an author is the only thing I ever wanted to seriously do, after having my family. It was important to me that I raise my children first, so I waited until they were all in school. Then, I decided to self-publish my first book WOLF MOON, which is the basis for the entire universe I write in..

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

I read everything from horror to romance to high fantasy and biographies. I do love me a good cowboy romance though particularly from Linda Lael Miller or Diana Palmer.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

The Princess Bride because what other movie is there? LOL.

15--What is your favorite season?

I love every season, but if I had to pick a favorite it is fall and that is mostly because I was a nerdy little girl who loved the start of the school year.

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

With good food and my family and layered cake.

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I just finished Pistols, a biodrama about the Sex Pistols and it was really cool. Lots of stuff I did not know about the punk rock band. Actually, I think I may have been influenced by groups like this when writing my Guardians of Chaos books. After all, my series tagline is ‘from chaos comes creation’.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

I love all types of foods, especially ethnic cuisines like Italian, Cuban, Jamaican, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Indian, Greek, Middle Eastern, and so many more.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

What is free time? Seriously. LOL. I have three kids, a husband, two cats, a guinea pig, a fish tank, and I write full time. I love being busy.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

So many cool books coming out this year! My next Macconwood Pack Novel, the series finale, is releasing this August. WEREWOLF FEVER is book 8 in what started me in paranormal romance, so it is bittersweet end to one of my favorites, but no worries. The Macconwood Pack Tales, a spin off series, is still going strong!

THANK YOU!

WITCH SHIELD by C.D. Gorri

Guardians of Chaos #5

Witch Shield

She's on a mission to prove magic exists. He has to change her mind.

What happens when a Witch falls for a feisty normal bent on outing the single most vital secret in the known universe?

Egros must convince Elena's mate's sister to stop her investigation into the supernatural world. The cunning female is too smart to bespell. He'll just have to try the old fashioned way.

Margo Wells has done the unthinkable. The human woman has tracked her brother all the way to the Guardians of Chaos' Keep, and she's not leaving without proof magic exists. All her life Margo was different. With this revelation, she's finally found vindication.

Will Egros put a stop to the infuriatingly beautiful woman's investigation, or will he lose his heart instead?
