1--What is the title of your latest release?

THE LADY LOVES DANGER

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

Two people from vastly different worlds come together to find a lost child in Regency England and fall in love along the way.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

My romances are set in the Regency era and since this new series features a group of crime fighting females, The Maidens of Mayhem, it was an opportunity for me to explore the lack of law enforcement in this time period. I enjoy writing about the grittier side of London just as much as the fancy balls and tea parties.

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Absolutely. Delilah is kindhearted, resourceful, and determined. She’s strong in overcoming her fears and pursuing her future. I think Delilah stays true to the time period, but also exemplifies important qualities women would also want to have today.

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

Sexy, vulnerable, and protective

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

Even though the Regency era was over 200 years ago, there are many troubling themes that existed then and still exist today. Exploring the lack of law enforcement was also fascinating. It was quite a lawless society back then.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I edit as I write. I enjoy rereading my work from the day before and I usually correct or change things after the pages have set for a day. Once I complete the entire novel, I’ll read it again and edit one final time.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Ice cream. Without question. I could eat ice cream every day. I like complicated blends with all kinds of yummy additions. Ice cream is happiness in a bowl.

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I like to write when it’s quiet. I have a desk beside a window and stare out at nature when I’m having trouble with a particular part of the story. I have lots of favorite books around me too, keeping me company and encouraging me. If that doesn’t work, I take a walk and get some fresh air.

10--Who is an author you admire?

Sherry Thomas’ historical romances are so rich with emotion I can’t help but strive to write someday as well as she does. Her stories are compelling, touching, and beautifully written. She’s a very talented author.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

I recently read The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and was completely blown away. I thought about that story for weeks afterward. One way I know an author has impacted me with their book is when the emotional journey stays with me.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

I had been trying to become published for over ten years, so when I finally received the news that one of my novels would be published, I almost couldn’t believe it. Since I’d written multiple novels during that time, once I was signed by a publisher, I was able to get several of my stories to readers in a short period and that definitely aided in my success.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Historical romance. I fell in love with the genre over 30 years ago and I still enjoy it although I also read historical fiction and contemporary romance now.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

The Holiday – even though its several years old, I think that movie is the perfect blend of romance, comedy, and entertainment.

15--What is your favorite season?

I definitely enjoy summer, but living in the northeast, there’s nothing like a crisp autumn day when the leaves are all different colors. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere that didn’t have distinct changes in season.

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

Cake! Dinner and cake. Nothing too fancy. Just being together with my family and friends is always a fun way to celebrate.

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

Ted Lasso. I discovered the show during the pandemic and it’s a favorite now. Not just for the comedy and great acting – but the message. I think the world definitely needs more positivity and Ted Lasso is optimism on steroids.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Mexican. Any day can be made better with chips and guacamole.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

Read. Walk. Bake. Craft. I enjoy crafting miniatures and have built several tiny houses and rooms. My favorite project is a tiny bookstore where I’ve included miniature versions of my novels on the shelves.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

Hopefully, more historical romance. Additionally, I’ve been exploring new genres. I have ideas for contemporary and historical fiction that also make me smile, so I guess readers can expect a surprise!

Thanks so much for having me. This was fun!

THE LADY LOVES DANGER by Anabelle Bryant

Maidens of Mayhem #2

The Lady Loves Danger

The society of daring women known as the Maidens of Mayhem dedicate their lives to protecting London’s most vulnerable citizens from injustice. Daring and discreet, their missions lead them to people and places they least expect, often putting their lives—and their hearts—in peril . . .

Lady Delilah Ashbrook is tirelessly searching the streets of London for a boy who vanished while under her care. Suspecting the child was abducted to be sold, Delilah hopes the Maidens can help find him before it’s too late. But Delilah’s mission brings her into the crosshairs of a mysterious man who is also looking for the boy. Sebastian St. Allen certainly cuts a dashing figure. But is he hoping to save the child—or harm him?

Sebastian has his own reasons for protecting the less fortunate. He has a gift for seamlessly navigating both London’s darkest corners and its most elite circles. But nothing prepared him for Delilah, whose delicate beauty belies an independence and sensuality he finds irresistible. Sebastian knows they can help each other if only she’ll let her guard down.  And as they become entrenched in danger, they realize how strong their ties have grown—and how much they need one another . . .

About Anabelle Bryant

Anabelle Bryant

Anabelle began reading at age three and never stopped. Her passion for reading soon turned into a passion for writing and an author was born. Happy to grab her suitcase if it ensures a new adventure, Anabelle finds endless inspiration in travel; especially imaginary jaunts into romantic Regency England, a far cry from her home in New Jersey. Instead, her clever characters live out her daydreams because really, who wouldn’t want to dance with a handsome duke or kiss a wicked earl?

Though teaching keeps her grounded, photography, running, and writing counterbalance her wanderlust. Often found with her nose in a book, Anabelle has earned her Master’s Degree and is pursuing her Doctorate Degree in education. She proudly owns her addiction to French fries and stationery supplies, as well as her frightening ineptitude with technology. A firm believer in romance, Anabelle knows sometimes life doesn’t provide a happily ever after, but her novels always do. She enjoys talking with her fans. Visit her website.
