November's Bountiful Harvest ... Books, Books, and more BOOKS!

It’s funny how things work out some times. It was in 2003 that I wrote my first book and promptly stuck it in a drawer. It wasn’t very good. Flash forward to 2007. I’d written four books in the Sweet series, but I couldn’t get the lead character, Gillian, from that first book out of my head. I began to re-imagine the tale and with a little help from my editor The Demon King and I was born.

It’s me, so Gillian is of course a kick-butt heroine. She’s a savvy businesswoman who knows what she wants, and as a Guardian Key she also slays demons. She despises these creatures from another world that cause so much trouble. That’s why when she falls for the new Demon King Arath she’s absolutely appalled and enthralled. He’s hot and sexy as, um, hell. In between fighting the big bad evil that’s trying to take over our world, and running her businesses she discovers there’s more to him than she could have ever imagined. I can’t wait for you guys to read it!

It’s a bountiful month for great books from some of my favorite people.

Tall, Dark and Texan is the latest from my mentor Jodi Thomas. She says that Teagen McMurray is one of her favorite heroes she’s ever written. Teagen is working trying to protect his land, and he doesn’t know what to do with a woman and her three children who just show up out of the blue. All of the sudden he’s proposing marriage and he’s not sure why he’s doing it. Jodi is my friend, but I’m telling you this is one great book. I fell in love with Teagen too.

My fellow witchychick Madelyn Alt’s No Rest for the Wiccan features empathy Maggie O’Neill. “She was someone I could have gone to school with or who lived next door,” says Madelyn of her character Maggie. “She was also a late-blooming empath, something I know from personal experience. From that first day with Maggie’s voice, I knew I wanted to write about one young woman’s circuitous path toward acceptance and self-discovery, while still entertaining with a story that makes readers want to stay up all night.” I’m a big fan of this series!

Michele Bardsley makes me laugh. Her new book Wait Till Your Vampire Gets Home features paranormal investigator Libby Monroe who ended up in Broken Heart, Oklahoma where she finds lycanthropes, zombies and vampires. The town is being torn in two by a war between the undead. “I wanted to shake things up so I thought of what I could throw at those parents trying to stay off the paranormal radar?” says Michele. “Duh. Toss in some paranormal investigators, and some dragons. Dragons rule.”

The wonderful Tracy Garrett returns to Texas, 1847, with her story Touched By Love. The moment Isabel Bennett lays eyes on Jaret Walker, she remembers the dreams she’s denied for so long. She’s sworn never to marry. It’s the only way to protect her ranch. But when Walker rides into her life, she decides to let herself taste what she’s giving up—a passion that burns through her with each kiss—and a desire that won’t be denied”

The gorgeous Jax Cassidy’s Art of Sensuality is just as hot as the title implies. Machiko Barrett is an artist who was discovered when she was only 3-years-old. Caught in a turbulent storm of celebrity, scandal and corruption she disappeared. It’s been 15 years and her sheltered existence is disrupted when she’s lured back to her one true passion – painting. While she tries to discover her identity through her art, she encounters a man who opens her eyes to the art of sensuality, and awakens the woman buried deep inside the broken girl.

Karen Harper’s newest The Hiding Place is a fantastic romantic suspense about a woman who wakes from a coma and learns devastating news. Not only has her husband divorced her for another woman, but something precious was taken from her while she was in the coma. Working with Nick, a man haunted by his past, she begins to investigate those missing months with surprising results.

Romeo, Romeo is Robin Kaye’s new novel. Nick Romeo is a self-made millionaire and Brooklyn’s most eligible bachelor. He likes independent women, but when he finally meets one, Rosalie, all he wants to do is take care of her. Seems like the perfect match except for a few little things like mistaken identity, corporate theft, a hidden past and a big nosey Italian family. Nick must decide whether he should disappear or tell Rosalie the truth that could blow up their budding relationship.

Rowan of the Wood is a debut YA novel from Christine Rose. After a millennium of imprisonment in his magic wand, an ancient wizard possesses the young boy who released him. When danger is nigh, he emerges from the frightened child to set things right. Both he and the boy try to grasp what has happened to them only to discover a deeper problem. Somehow the wizard’s bride from the ancient past has survived and become something evil.
