Award–winning inspirational fiction author Ann H.
Gabhart pens extraordinary tales of forbidden love set
against the fascinating Shaker colony backdrop. In her
fifth Shaker series novel, THE
GIFTED (Revell Trade Paperback),
heroine Jessamine Brady struggles to reconcile her rigid
existence in
Harmony Hill Shaker village with the dream of one day
meeting the fairytale
prince her loving grandmother said would come. A
storyteller by nature, Jessamine longs to write down the
stories of her heart, but such pursuits are not allowed in
Harmony Hill.
The lucky winner of Ann's July contest will be able to
write down the stories of her own heart in a beautifully
embroidered leather journal with a stunning mosaic
ballpoint pen. Best of all, the grand prizewinner will also
receive a copy of Ann's new Shaker novel, THE
GIFTED.
Two additional winners will receive a Christian fiction
novel from the talented author.
Jessamine Brady
possesses an astounding innocence and purity thanks to an
upbringing in an isolated cabin in the woods with her
storytelling grandmother. Despite losing her mother to the
rigors of childbirth and her father to the wanderlust of
his author aspirations, it never occurs to Jessamine that
she might be missing something. She has feasted on a
constant diet of love, fairy tales and delightful freedom.
Then her storybook childhood takes an unexpected turn when
her beloved granny dies and a kindly pastor takes the
orphaned child to live in a world unlike any she could have
ever imagined.
By 1849, Jessamine has been in the Shaker Village for half
her life, but in spite of how she loves her sisters there,
she struggles to conform to their strict rules. Instead she
indulges in flights of fancy about life in the world
outside the Shaker boundaries. When Tristan Cooper seems to
step straight out of one of her fantasies to entice her
into the forbidden realm beyond the Shaker Village, her
life turns upside down. Will Jessamine be able to survive
the storms of the world? Or will she retreat back to the
peace of Harmony Hill?
