Leah Rae Miller | My current favorite TV ships

facebooktwitter
The first ship I can clearly remember rooting for was Clark Kent and Lois Lane on Lois & Clark, a TV show from the โ€˜90s about (surprise, surprise) Superman. I remember my heart fluttering when she finally knew the mild-mannered reporter, Clark, was actually the hero of Metropolis. I remember how I sighed with delight when Clark went down on one knee and proposed to Lois. And I have no shame about that poster I had hanging in my room of Dean Cain who played Clark on the show. That show opened my young girly eyes and my own affair with romance began. It doesnโ€™t matter what type of entertainment Iโ€™m engaged with, I will always try to find the two people I want to get together and proceed to mentally chant, โ€œNow kiss. Now kiss. Now kiss.โ€ I even shipped Jerry and Elaine from Seinfeld (no judgies). And Iโ€™m confident in my opinion that Jim and Pam (PB&J) from The Office are the best ship to have ever shipped. Iโ€™m sure you readers can relate to my shipping habit, amirite? So, today Iโ€™d like to fangirl over some of my current favorite TV ships!

***WARNING : SOME SPOILERS***

  1. Quentin & Alice (The Magicians) โ€“ This show based on The Magicians series by Lev Grossman is my new obsession. Itโ€™s unique and witty and the magic stuff is so much fun. Iโ€™ve been rooting for Quentin and Alice (or as I like to call them Q&A) since the beginning. Two shy, smart nerds with off-the-charts chemistry in a college for magic? YES PLEASE!
  2. Denise & Tara (The Walking Dead) โ€“ In a world filled with death, danger, and decay, these two found each other and I squeed so loud when they did. Tara, a member of our main group of survivors and a badass, meets Denise, a psychologist drafted into being the town doctor, and sparks fly. Watching them support each other is one of the highlights of my viewing of this show.
  3. Barry & Patty (The Flash) โ€“ Ah, Iโ€™m such a sucker for the secret superhero identity trope because of that one big moment: the big reveal. Although, this one is currently up in the air. Iโ€™m not sure if Iโ€™ll get my โ€œship fulfillmentโ€ which just means Iโ€™m going to have to keep watching! And thatโ€™s a good thing because so far this show has been great!
  4. Kara & Jimmy (Supergirl) โ€“ Iโ€™m starting to see a trend here and if youโ€™ve read my first book, The Summer I Became a Nerd, youโ€™re probably not surprised. Hi, Iโ€™m Leah and I have a thing for NERDS! Anyway, Cara is a big olโ€™ nerd with superpowers and here comes seasoned photojournalist Jimmy Olsen. Heโ€™s charming and gorgeous, but heโ€™s also in a relationship. These two have great chemistry AND the show has been renewed for a second season!
  5. Lip & Mandy (Shameless) โ€“ Hey, look! Itโ€™s a show NOT based on comics!!! I do watch those sometimes! In the early seasons of Shameless, Mandy was a hard as nails chick whoโ€™d been through so much. Unfortunately, she fell in love with Lip who was in love with someone else who was horrible and not right for him. Despite Lip being super smart, he didnโ€™t realize that Mandy truly cared for him even though she showed it inโ€ฆ unorthadox ways. Mandy wasnโ€™t around for a couple of seasons, but has recently returned so Iโ€™m excited to see these two in the same room again. But if you watch Shameless youโ€™re probably like me. You know things donโ€™t always work out the way you expect/want them to.
Runner-ups: Brian & Rachel (Limitless), Liv & Major (iZombie), Rick & Michonne (The Walking Dead)

There you have it! Only some of my current favorite ships! What is your favorite
ship atm? Share in the comments! And thanks for having me today! May all your
kisses be swoony and all your ships have clear skies ahead!

About ROMANCING THE NERD

Romancing the
Nerd

Dan Garrett has become exactly what he hates―popular. Until recently, he was just another live-action role-playing nerd on the lowest rung of the social ladder. Cue a massive growth spurt and an uncanny skill at taking three-point shots in basketball and voilร ...Mr. Popular. It's definitely weird.

And the biggest drawback? Going from high school zero to basketball hero cost Dan the secret girl of his dorky dreams.

A band geek with an eclectic fashion sense, Zelda Potts's โ€œcoolnessโ€ stat is about minus forty-two. Dan turning his back on her and the rest of nerd-dom was brutal enough, but when he humiliates her at school, Zelda decides it's time for a little revenge―dork style. Never mind that she used to have a crush on him. Never mind that her plan could backfire big time.

It's time to roll the dice...and hope like freakin' hell she doesn't lose her heart in the process.
