Ashe Barker | Second Chances and Getting it Right

pinterestgoodreadstwitterfacebook

Have you ever made a decision, one that made sense on paper, seemed to be the
right
thing to do, for all the best reasons, yet you never stop regretting it?

What would have happened if…? Maybe I could have… I wonder…

Libby Novak did just that. She decided to end her marriage to a serving soldier to
avoid
the heartbreak of living without him if – when – he was killed in Afghanistan or
some
other warzone. She didn’t wait for it to happen, she jumped before she could be
pushed.
He wouldn’t leave the army, so she left him.

Except, she’d miscalculated. The outcome for her was the same. Life without Josh
was a
mere existence, and not much of one. Lonely, frustrated, since separating from
Josh she
has concentrated on her career and is managing, more or less, as an independent
woman.
As soon as she meets up with her husband again though, and in the most
embarrassing of
circumstances, her instincts take over.

Luckily for Libby he’s missed her too. They have an opportunity to undo the hurts
of the
past and move on, but will they take it? Will one hot, stolen spanking be enough?

I’m a great believer in second chances, and in never admitting defeat. I love
writing
about people who get things wrong and I am seldom short of material or
inspiration. We
do have an endless capacity for screwing up our lives it seems to me, but it is
the
stuff of great stories. The trick, of course, is to know when you’ve messed up
right
royally and be ready to do what it takes to put things right. That often includes
apologising, and of course, forgiveness. Oh, and did I mention the spanking…?

Libby made her great error in judgement because she was scared. At the time it
seemed
the safest, least painful course to take, but she was wrong. And perhaps she
lacked the
courage to face her fears. I enjoyed writing about a woman ready to acknowledge
her
mistakes, take responsibility and accept the consequences, and about the man with
the
strength to catch her at the other side.

IN THE EYES OF THE LAW has lots of delightful spanking in it. It’s a hot, sensual story about two strong-willed people who are destined to be together, but with an under- current of romance and a love affair which will stand the test of time. I hope readers love Libby and Josh as much as I do.

About Ashe Barker

Until 2010, Ashe Barker was a director of a regeneration company before deciding there had to be more to life and leaving to pursue a lifetime goal of self- employment.

Ashe has been an avid reader of women's fiction for many yearsβ€”erotic, historical,
contemporary, fantasy, romanceβ€”you name it, as long as it's written by women, for
women.
Now, at last in control of her own time and working from her home in rural West
Yorkshire, she has been able to realise her dream of writing erotic romance
herself.

She draws on settings and anecdotes from her previous and current experience to
lend
colour, detail and realism to her plots and characters, but her stories of love,
challenge, resilience and compassion are the conjurings of her own imagination.
She
loves to craft strong, enigmatic men and bright, sassy women to give them a hard
timeβ€”in
every sense of the word.

When she's not writing, Ashe's time is divided between her role as resident taxi
driver
for her teenage daughter, and caring for a menagerie of dogs, cats, rabbits,
tortoises
and a hamster.
