While authors are admittedly in business to make money, the vast majority of
them write because of a passion for storytelling or love of the craft. I am
one
of these authors. Not only do I like telling stories, but I like hearing
reactions from readers. My relationship with readers is one of the best
things
about my job. There is something very special about the friendships formed
around books. Readers and authors are passionate about reading and writing,
which provides common ground for connecting and sharing.
When approaching a new writing project, I consider not only the story but
how
to create a product that meets the needs and preferences of readers. One of
the
industry trends that seems popular with readers right now is the book
series.
My recent release with Lauren Hawkeye, CAUGHT ON
CAMERA, is the first in the Black Towers series. While the series
features three different love stories, all of them take place in the same
commercial building with overlapping timelines. It’s this building that ties
them all together. My readers have told me they like series because it
allows
them to stay connected with popular characters and re-visit favorite
settings.
I also try to create added value opportunities for my readers as well. One
of
the ways I do this is by offering discounted pre-order pricing, such as the
99
cent sale for my upcoming erotic anthology, ECSTASY
SPA,
VOLUME III, which includes books 6 and 7 in my Ecstasy Spa
series.
The collection is also a value for readers in that they save by buying two
books together instead of paying for each title separately.
I love interacting with readers so I formed a Facebook group with Lauren
Hawkeye where we share cover reveals, exclusive excerpts, giveaways and
review
copies. We also use this forum to let readers help us brainstorm details for
books. Through this method, we devise “Easter eggs” to hide in the romance
novels, which allow close fans to become more invested in the story.
(“Easter
eggs” are inside jokes or hidden messages.)
Authors write from the heart and genuinely want to give readers a 5-star
reading experience with every book. We work hard to develop compelling
characters and emotional stories that will inspire and entertain. We truly
“write for readers” because without these dedicated fans, our books would be
nothing more than a jumble of words.

After over a decade in the scientific world, Suzanne needed a creative
outlet.
She tried scrap booking, cooking, crocheting, painting, and piano, none of
which held her interest for very long. Then one of her friends suggested
writing. Thrilled with the idea of creating her own worlds, she opened up
her
lap top and never looked back.
When Suzanne’s not writing, she can be found playing with her two daughters,
testing her husband’s latest kitchen creations, or curled up with her
favorite
romance novel in her central Massachusetts home.

catches

I actually have a couple of ways of interacting with my favorite Authors. Those that I've connected with, I either write to via their personal e-mail account, and we correspond back and forth that way, or we write back and forth via regular "snail mail." As for Facebook, I don't have an account, and don't plan on opening one, for reasons I don't care to get into on this posting. I also don't own an e-reader, although I'd love to. I also love to feel the "real" book in my hands, and flip the pages. There are a few Authors that have contests that at least give you a choice of e-copy or print. Yours didn't, which leaves me out of the loop, and is disappointing, since I would have loved to have read your books. I did want my comments known, however. You are quite talented, and I wish you the best with your latest book!!
