Tawny Weber | Why Captain America Isn't My Favorite Avenger

goodreadstwitterfacebookpinterest

β€œLanguage!”

There are so many things to love about the Avengers movies. Epic battles, awesome
heroes, internal conflict and friendships built on teamwork. The plots are always
strong, the dialogue fabulous and the emotional balance extremely well done. But,
seriously, I’m pretty sure whatever elements we love to watch, the bottom line is
that it’s all about the heroes.

I love these heroes! They are strong, sexy and powerful (I’m including the Black
Widow in that assessment, of course). They defy the odds, they do what needs to be
done, and, of course, they are great at doing it. Those that have found
relationships have found them with strong women who can not only handle these
powerful men, but they understand their dedication to the cause.

These are all things I try to remember and bring to the stories in my Sexy SEAL series. My heroes aren’t superheroes, but they are strong, sexy and powerful. They, too, do what needs to be done and do it well. They are dedicated to serving their country and keeping people safe. And while none of them wear spandex, they do look damned good in their uniforms.

Given that I’ve seen and adore all of these superheroes movies (and that Winter
Soldier is my current non-Avenger movie), and that I write military heroes, I feel
like Captain America should be my favorite Avenger. He’s military, he’s a soldier,
he gives his all for his country. He wanted to serve SO much that he was willing
to go through a miserably painful process in order to do so. Sort of like BUDs
training for the SEALs, with their infamous Hell Week. He’s the ultimate soldier.

But I just can’t love him. (Sorry Chris Evans fans!)

Don’t get me wrong. I like Captain America. He’s a great character and his growth
arc has been fabulous to watch. But I’m more attracted to Thor for his looks,
Hawkeye for his attitude and Ironman for his humor. And because all three of them
have a bad boy edge.

I love that bad boy edge. It’s such a contrast to the heroism that it makes the
risks they take, the sacrifices they make all the more apparent. Because while for
some (Like the sexy Captain) heroism is who they are-it’s an integral part of their
personality, others have to work at it.
Good boys do the right thing automatically, its hardwired into their DNA. Bad
boys, though? They have to move barriers to be the hero. Ironman is inherently
selfish but he puts that aside to be the hero. Thor is from another world, but he
fights for ours. And Hulk? Oh, that poor guy has major challenges with his bad
boy side, doesn’t he?

All heroes are awesome. But bad boys? They have a little extra dimension. Despite
their super powers, they aren’t perfect. They’re flawed. And usually, flawed in a
very sexy way. Bad boys break the rules, they play outside of the box. In life,
in their super actions, and I’ll bet, in bed. Or more likely, against a wall, in
the back of a limo, over the edge of a lab desk. They push the envelope in every
way. And that, I think, is the biggest appeal of bad boys.

Which brings me back to the first line in this post: β€œLanguage,” Captain America
chides when Ironman cusses during the heat of battle.
Yeah. Captain America is hot, but I’d rather have one of the bad boy heroes.
Because, bottom line? If all those bad guys were trying to kill me, I’d be
cussing, too.

About A SEAL'S PLEASURE

Subject: Navy SEAL Gabriel Thorne Mission: Initiate Operation: Romance - and prove that one night isn't enough! Explosives expert and Navy SEAL Gabriel "Romeo" Thorne makes his living tempting fate. Pushing the limits. So far, he's never lostβ€”especially when it comes to women. That is, until his best friend's wedding, where Gabriel is suddenly face-to- faceβ€”and deliciously body-to-bodyβ€”with the one woman hot enough to detonate his self-control. Tessa Monroe is used to being in control with men. Gabriel, on the other hand, is pretty much her sex kryptonite. Hard, gorgeous, dark-eyed kryptonite. Even as her defenses whisper "danger," lust demands she take her pleasure with him and then run. Now they're skirting the edge of an explosive attraction - where one wrong move could mean disaster.

Re: Tawny Weber | Why Captain America Isn't My Favorite Avenger

If being more turned on by the men in movies like the avengers, than
movies like Magic Mike makes me a geek, then I am definitely a hard core
geek. Every time someone asks me who I think are the sexiest guys in
movies; a superhero, a member of X-men, or an Avenger are the first
answers out of my mouth. Thor is by far my favorite Avenger, and
Ironman is my least favorite. I think it's because of his attitude, which I
seem to find more insulting than funny or endearing.

I've only seen one Avengers film (and it, only once) but I
think my favourite was Hawk Eye, because he was "only"
human. The others were born with their skills or got them
some other way, but Hawk Eye had to work for it, and was
just as good.

I am a big super hero fan... in the Avengers, I love Tony Stark/ Iron Man's humor, but out of all of those guys, Captain America is my fav... love bad boys, but something about that All- American guy gets me.

My favorite avenger is Iron Man. He is so innovative and snarky.

My favorite Avenger is Captain Marvel. she is strong and love
the idea she is a pilot.
(L Green 10:33pm June 16, 2015)

Thor is my favorite and Captain America is my least. Can't wait to see the Ant Man movie!
