Looking at the title of my newest paranormal romance, I’m sure it’s not
difficult to figure out where my inspiration came from.
The Devil Wears Prada has always been one of my favorite movies. If you
haven’t seen it, IMDB gives this amazing summary: A smart, but sensible new
graduate lands a job as an assistant to Miranda Priestly, the demanding
editor-in-chief of a high fashion magazine.
Amazing, right?
The movie was full of smarts and sass, and Meryl Streep gave one of her best
performances to date. (Not an easy feat, in my book.) She was demanding, and
sophisticated, with a “take no bull” approach to running her fashion magazine.
Anne Hathaway’s character came to a stunning revelation that she’d have to stab
her friends in the back to reach the top. However, it was already too late.
She’d already clawed her way to her new position, and stepped on others to get
there. She regretted the decision, sure, but it was in hindsight.
The movie left me wondering about the limits to our dreams. What would we do—or
rather, what wouldn’t we do—to achieve our goals?
When I created Melina Rae Rosenthal, the spunky journalist heroine in THE
WEREWOLF WEARS PRADA, I wanted her to test those limits. Melina loves fashion.
(Pass the Prada!) But she also dreams of working for a high fashion magazine.
(Even if it’s run by a pushy, no-nonsense werewolf.) From the beginning, she’s
determined to do whatever it takes to get to the top, even writing an article
improving the image of the guy who broke her heart a year earlier. Her boss
doesn’t care about her reluctance, and demands perfection.
But when it comes down to it, there are limits to achieving success. As Miranda
starts to fall in love with Hayden all over again, she’s ordered to do something
unbelievable. Unethical. Something that would destroy their relationship.
When choosing between love and the career of her dreams, she knows which path
she should take…but that doesn’t make the decision any easier. It could be
argued she has to make the decision between love of self and love of another…
I had so much fun writing Melina and Hayden, testing those limits, and diving
into the fashion world. But I wonder…what would you choose? True love over the
career of your dreams, or the other way around?
About THE WEREWOLF WEARS PRADA

Even if Hayden Dean is a werewolf.
Since his father's death, Hayden's the heir apparent to the San Francisco Wolf
Pack-well, once he settles down. Hayden isn't interested in giving up his
partying ways, except he's pretty sure he's found his fated mate, and the fact
that she's a non-shifter is bad news. Now he must find a compromise between the
traditions of his wolf world and his certainty that Melina is his...before fate
(or another werewolf) bites them both in the butt.
