I never used to listen to music while I wrote. I’ve always liked silence, the quiet space between the pauses that helps me find the words. For some reason, that’s no longer the case. I guess it’s safe to say times have changed…in a big way. With each book I write now, I can’t seem to help myself. I always put together a soundtrack. It arrives organically over the course of writing the book. No plans. No real intention. But by the end, I find myself listening to the same string of songs over and over, again and again, until the final chapter is written and THE END appears on the page. It becomes like white noise, a way to shut out the world while I immerse myself in my characters and the place they in habit.

So today, in celebration of my newest release, FURY OF OBSESSION (Dragonfury Series, book 5), I thought I’d share my latest soundtrack—what I’ve been listen to the last couple of months—with you. Enjoy. Make it your own, if you like. But always, rock on!

Coreene’s Fury of Obsession Soundtrack

1. Killing Strangers – Marilyn Manson

2. What I’ve Done – Linkin Park

3. Warriors – Imagine Dragons

4. I’m Not Dead – P!NK

5. In My Mind – M86 & Susie Q

6. Think – Kaleida

7. Lose Myself – Seven Lions

There you have it. The music I listened to while writing Venom and Evelyn’s story. I think it suits them. Venom, in particular. Then again, it’s hard to tell. Evelyn is, after all, as kick-butt a heroine as they come.

Thanks for stopping by today. And when you have a chance, drop me a line. Visit me on Facebook. Connect with me on Twitter. Or email me. Anytime. I love hearing from you!

About FURY OF OBSESSION

Dragon-warrior Venom lives in self-imposed isolation. Cursed by his toxic touch, he is deadly to anyone who has contact with him for too long. Set apart from others and hounded by intense loneliness, he craves the lasting connection he believes he cannot possess. Until a chance encounter with a sultry mortal offers a ray of hope…

Evelyn Foxe is the woman of Venom’s every desire, but she’s too busy running from the Russian mob to think about love. As she accepts Venom’s offer to help her escape her precarious situation, she’s skeptical, afraid that he’s in league with those sent to harm her. But when a biological weapon is unleashed in her hometown, Evelyn is forced to trust Venom—or risk the dangers of going it alone.

Will they survive the firestorm that rages around them? And can they pull from the ashes a love that will defy all the odds and last through the ages?

Re: Coreene Callahan | Soundtrack for FURY OF OBSESSION

I hope you won't find my posting offensive, because I don't
mean any harm by it. I'm not familiar with your books,
because I normally don't read this genre, but your latest
book has caught my eye, and I have it on my TBR list, to
take a chance and see what your books are all about, as well
as give this genre a chance. I'm also "sprading my wings" a
bit this year, as I started to do late last year, and found
it quite fun!! As to your music list, I am familiar with
some of the artists, and can understand why you would listen
to them to come up with the story line that you have. I
believe that music puts fire into the soul, because I
volunteer to teach a knitting class one day a week, and I
believe that the music helps with my creativity!! Some of
the artists on your list I have heard of, but don't think I
would like to listen to. I'm more of a light-rock person,
slightly on the edge, with classical tendencies.
Congratulations on your latest book, which I know in my
heart will do well. I apologize for being a bit wordy as
well. Best of luck to you in your future writing endeavors.
I can see how you put your heart and soul into your books!!
