Daniel Radcliffe Unsure About Reprising 'Potter'; Plans to Read New Short Story

Daniel Radcliffe joined us this morning for the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills, California to promote the second season of “A Young Doctor’s Notebook & Other Stories” (September, 2014). Although he has not had a chance to read the newly released “Harry Potter” short story author J.K. Rowling published this morning on her Pottermore website, the actor did let the room know he plans to dig into it soon.

“I haven’t read it yet,” says Radcliffe, “but I do plan to read it.”

Whether or not he is interested in slipping on the iconic round-frame glasses and Harry’s trademark scare is a completely different story. Radcliffe has been nothing but positive about his experience as the boy wizard, but also there has not been new “Harry Potter” material, until today.

“I don’t know,” sighs Radcliffe when asked if he would want to reprise Harry Potter as an adult. “My inclination is to say no. It’s not a question that is even hypothetical at the moment. From what I understand it’s a very, very short piece that I’m not sure of myself is worthy of adaptation to film. He’s at least twelve years older than I am now. So, I don’t think I’ll have to worry about that for a long time.”

“I’m hoping,” he adds with a smile.

For now, Radcliffe is content to take on a variety of roles, including a second season of the hit Ovation series “A Young Doctor’s Notebook & Other Stories.” You can watch the first season on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
