Tell us about Saved by the Bride and the Wedding Fever trilogy. What
was your inspiration for this town about weddings?
The Wedding Fever trilogy idea hit me when a major employer pulled out of my
town and the following weekend I went to a really swanky wedding in the city.
It got me thinking about the wedding industry and destination weddings. Saved
by the Bride was born and as I was having so much fun creating Whitetail, I had
to write more than one story about this wedding town.
Your background is nursing and you started with a medical romance -
do you have any more of those planned?
I've written 19 medical romances and I have Gold Coast Angels: Bundle of
Trouble coming out in November. I love writing these books; they're full of
emotion and angst but with a guaranteed happy ending.
What did you enjoy the most about writing Annika's & Finn's story?
I think it was Annika's severe lack of co-ordination! I had so much fun with
that. She walks into walls, she falls out of bed, she misses catches to the
point of getting a black eye from a wedding bouquet and whenever Finn is
around, her lack of co-ordination is ten times worse.
What do you read for pleasure?
I'm an eclectic reader. I belong to a book group which takes care of my
literary reading and I read romance for pleasure. I enjoy historicals and
humorous contemporary novels and although I enjoy category length, I really
love a slightly longer book. I'm a wimp so I can't read suspense or murder
mysteries as they give me heart palpitations and heartburn!
Fresh Fiction has our annual "Boas & Tiaras" event coming up. What
is your favorite color of boa?
Too easy...HOT PINK!
You’ve traveled extensively. What is your favorite destination & why?
Oh, that is way too hard a question to answer. Some places, like Wisconsin, are
special because we lived there and have such great friends there so returning
to visit is always so much fun. Asia is close to Australia and I adore Vietnam
and Borneo. Last year I had THE most relaxing holiday of my life on a tiny
island in Fiji where I got to read 7 books in five days in a hammock on a
gorgeous, coconut tree fringed beach. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
80 rose bushes? Really? Much admiration from me; I can only kill
them :( Any advice for a rose black-thumb like me??
Actually, roses are related to the blackberry family so they are pretty
indestructible and can cope with neglect. Maybe you are killing yours with
kindness. They need some compost, a severe pruning each winter, sunshine and
some water but not too much. Grow some pyrethrum daisies underneath them to
help control aphids and spray them with soapy water if they get infested. My
favourite rose is the velvet maroon Mr. Lincoln with the amazing perfume scent.
