Writes:
Historical crime set in London, sometimes with a contemporary twist. Enjoy big houses, bad families, glittering settings and plenty of twists. In The Housekeepers, we join a disgruntled gang of female servants as they embark on the most audacious heist of the century. In THE QUEEN OF FIVES, we meet London’s premier conwoman, out to defraud the wealthiest family in town – until she realizes somebody is playing a game of high deception against her. And in THE MIDNIGHT GUESTS, we’re pulled into a dark and twisting 1920s mystery, when two ornate coffins are discovered in the vaults of London’s most lavish new hotel.
About:
Bestselling author of three novels, Alex Hay writes fast, twisting suspense novels layered with all the delicious sights, sounds and scents of the past. He loves the research process, uncovering the details that will bring a scene to life. But most of all he loves writing complex, secretive, scrappy characters determined to survive and thrive in the cut-and-thrust world of turn-of-the-century London.
The ideal reader for my new novel, THE MIDNIGHT GUESTS, should enjoy books featuring:
• Big, glittering hotels
• The grit and glitter of 1920s London
• An unsolved murder, unravelling in the present day
• Glamorous guests hiding the deadliest secrets
• Dual timelines
• Twists galore
What to expect if we’re compatible:
Characters brimming with courage and charisma. A little grit underneath the gloss. Heists, cons and twisty mysteries. Big, sumptuous worlds and opulent settings. And hopefully a thoroughly entertaining read.
Narrator: Florence Howard

From the bestselling author of The Housekeepers comes a glossy, dark, page‑turning mystery to rival The White Lotus–unfolding over twenty‑four fateful hours in London's most lavish hotel.
1926. Diana Gold, owner and impresario, throws open the doors to the most opulent new hotel in London. As the champagne flows and the chandeliers shimmer, millionaires and gamblers rub shoulders with film stars and royalty.
Though, things at the Hotel Artemis aren’t quite what they seem—including the two guests Diana expects at midnight. Powerful and dangerous, they’ve dragged her from the gutter and taught her all she knows. Now Diana must take perfect care of them—unless they take care of her first.
But when a body is found in the hotel’s finest suite, the lavish opening night begins to spiral out of control. And over twenty‑four fateful hours, the staff and guests of the Artemis will find out why they are really there.
