Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match" where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It's our great pleasure to present Laura Piper Lee!
Writes:
I write romantic comedy, real deal comedy, with swoons and steamy scenes and people getting over the obstacles in their lives to find true love. Everything else is up for grabs—my first two books are set in Georgia, where I’m from; my latest Pot Shot is set in New Jersey, where I live (approximately) now; and my next is Doomsdate, my zombie apocalypse rom-com that takes place on a road trip up the eastern seaboard of the Z.U.S.A.
About:
I’m that friend who always wants to see you, wants to hear everything about your life, who enjoys discussing topics traditionally labeled as “TMI.” I love to laugh, and I love making other people laugh, especially women. Bringing that kind of joy to someone feels like the best superpower ever. I also enjoy making literally anything, I am a sl-t for crafts, decorating my house to be fun and whimsical, and taking long walks with my dog, Mr. Peanut Butter. I really hate sweating, when the cuffs of my jeans drag on the ground the rain, and other inconvenient, distasteful, involuntary wetness.
What I’m looking for in my ideal reader match:
I’m looking for readers who love to laugh as much as I do, who want to read about quirky, imperfect people finding love. I want readers who are open-minded—my newest rom-com is all about a woman with Crohn’s disease who’s opening a cannabis dispensary—so being open-minded about people who live differently is pretty critical to reading my books. I’m looking for readers who happily embrace queer characters and love stories, as I wrote those, too. In short, I’m looking for my people!
What to expect if we’re compatible:
You can expect bold, unapologetic humor in my newest rom-com, POT SHOT, as well as a male main character who is really, truly odious for a good portion of the book. If you can’t handle hating a man for a while, good luck with this one! I’ve heard it compared to You’ve Got Mail in terms of the ability to transform a completely unlikable man into a viable, swoony love interest. Just bear with me and Dr. Julian D’Angelo, okay? I swear to you, he is so, so baby girl by the end. You can also expect steamy sex scenes, a man who grovels and begs, who is so earnest and passionately in love, and a woman who feels disconnected from her own body due to a lifetime of painful chronic illness that separates her from others and the life she desperately wants to live. You can expect tension and banter and heartwarming, tender moments. You can expect side characters that nearly steal the show. And most of all, you can expect love.

To open her cannabis dispensary, a chronically ill woman must defeat the surly doctor next door in this hilarious and steamy romantic comedy.
Nomi Wyeth, former valedictorian and current pothead, has her heart set on opening her own boutique cannabis dispensary in charming downtown Sparrow Nook, New Jersey. Cannabis changed Nomi’s life, giving her relief from Crohn’s disease when nothing else could, and it’s her dream to help others find the same peace and comfort she has.
But Nomi’s plans are rudely interrupted when Dr. Julian D’Angelo, former salutatorian and current asshole, returns to Sparrow Nook with a chip on his shoulder, a probation to serve at the medical practice next door, and a lifelong vendetta against weed.
When an unfortunate shaving accident lands Nomi onto Julian’s exam table, Julian is appalled to discover that his high school nemesis is still inconveniently gorgeous, still hates his guts, and worst of all, that she’s planning on opening an amoral weed bordello next to his clinic. War is the only answer and definitely not an excuse to keep running into witty, free-spirited Nomi.
As they battle each other all over Sparrow Nook, from “pot luck” fundraisers to public debates at City Council meetings, their fraught pasts and feelings for each other become harder and harder to ignore. It’s tough to say what will change first—their minds or their hearts—but one thing’s for sure: they’re not going down without a fight.

Laura Piper Lee has wanted to be an author since she was a kid. She enjoys making people laugh, flirting, and avoiding exercise, so writing romantic comedies like Zoe Brennan, First Crush and Hannah Tate, Beyond Repair is pretty much a perfect career choice. She lives with her partner and their son in Philadelphia.
