What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
A Hanukkah retelling of A CHRISTMAS CAROL!
How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
There’s nothing more magical than New York City around the holidays—so, of course, I set THE EIGHT HEARTBREAKS OF HANUKKAH there!
Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?
Absolutely!
What are three words that describe your hero?
Dependable, kindhearted, charming
What’s something you learned while writing this book?
Less is more.
Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
A combination. I try not to edit as much on a first draft, but sometimes it’s inevitable.

Chocolate cake.
Describe your writing space/office!
I have a small office crammed full of my books, awards, and a large doggy bed loaded down with toys for my one-year-old husky puppy.

Heidi Shertok. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she’s an all-around great human being.
Is there a book that changed your life?
My first book., The Matzah Ball, absolutely changed my life.
Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published). Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.

Too many to choose one!

What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Home cooking.
What do you do when you have free time?
When I have free time, I love to spend it with the husky puppy and the hubby. We go hiking and hit up dog friendly wineries and restaurants. Or, we’ll just lay around in bed, watching movies and eating popcorn together, and catching up on rest.
What can readers expect from you next?
I’m launching Jewish Joy Con! After that, I’ll return to writing books.

Can these exes rekindle their love this Hanukkah?
Evelyn Schwartz has the perfect Hanukkah planned: eight jam-packed days producing the live-action televised musical of A Christmas Carol. Who needs family when you’ve got long hours, impossible deadlines, and your dream job? That is, until an accident on set lands her in the medical bay with one of her chronic migraines, and she’s shocked to find her ex-husband, David Adler, filling in for the usual studio doctor.
It’s been two years since David walked away from Evelyn and their life in Manhattan, and his ex-wife is still the same workaholic who puts her career before everything else—especially her health. But when Evelyn begins hallucinating “ghosts” tied to her past heartbreaks, and every single one leads to David, he finds himself spending much more time with her than he anticipated. And denying the still-smoldering chemistry between them becomes impossible.
As Evelyn revisits her ghosts of Hanukkah past, she and David both begin to wonder if they can have a Hanukkah future. But with a high-stakes production ramping up the pressure on Evelyn, and troublesome spirits forcing them both to confront their most difficult shared memories, it might just take a Hanukkah miracle for these two exes to light the flame on their second-chance at love.
