What is the title of your latest release?
UNCHARMED
What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
A "perfect" witch must learn to embrace perfection and live for herself, when her sparkling life is unexpectedly turned into cozy chaos thanks to a teenage witch and a grumpy warlock.
How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
UNCHARMED begins in a very picturesque version of London, but when Annie is tasked with helping Maeve to get to grips with her magic, they are relocated to a ramshackle cottage in a hidden meadow. I knew I wanted this book to be a cottagecore comfort, so that decision was an easy one.
Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Absolutely! I am extremely fond of Annie, and she would be such a wonderful friend. She’s also a fantastic baker, which would be a bonus.
What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Soft, kind-hearted, magical.
What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I learned that my first novel wasn’t just a fluke! I was worried that lightning wouldn’t strike twice, and I would never fall in love with a cast of characters the way that I did with my debut, REWITCHED. But fortunately, I fell for the cast of UNCHARMED in the exact same way, I’m obsessed with them.
Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
To start with, I edit as I draft (which feels illegal to confess), then get stricter with myself as the manuscript grows. I know everyone says the golden rule is to just keep moving forwards, but I find it useful to edit the first few chapters and drill the new characters into my mind.
What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Despite UNCHARMED being a book about sweet treats, I am usually a savory girly. Salt and vinegar crisps, pickles, cheese!
Describe your writing space/office!
Most of UNCHARMED was written in my office at home, which sounds very grand but it’s actually just a junk room. I am constantly surrounded by mess and chaos; it is not a relaxing writing environment!
Who is an author you admire?
I’m currently reading The Women by Kristin Hannah, and I’ve been in awe of her storytelling since I read Firefly Lane. It’s always so ambitious, compelling and celebratory of women.
Is there a book that changed your life?
Any of the Jacqueline Wilson books that I read obsessively growing up. They are why I’ve always loved reading, and writing. She is solely responsible for raising an entire generation of British millennial bookworms!
Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I was home alone, and took the Zoom call in my office/junk room. I didn’t actually realize it was going to be ‘the call’! I cried, then sent a completely unhinged text to my husband, and celebrated with the cat.
What’s your favorite genre to read?
Usually, it’s anything cozy fantasy. But right now, I am absolutely in my romance era.
What’s your favorite movie?
The Parent Trap
What is your favorite season?
Autumn
How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I never do much for my birthday, usually just a takeaway on the sofa! Although last year we went to Walt Disney World and I spent it at EPCOT, which was maybe the best idea ever.
What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
I just finished an early copy of BK Borison’s upcoming Christmas romance, Good Spirits. It was so sweet and cozy, a very magical read that made me cry!
What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Probably Italian—pizza and pasta always.
What do you do when you have free time?
I love crafting, sewing, coloring… All of the above while watching either Gilmore Girls or Buffy the Vampire Slayer over and over.
What can readers expect from you next?
I can’t say too much, but I am currently back at my desk with the posture of a prawn, battling a very ugly first draft… Anyone who enjoyed REWITCHED or UNCHARMED will be pleased with the direction it’s going, I hope!

Andromeda "Annie" Wildwood is the perfect witch. She is sugar, spice, and everything nice, each element of her life finely curated and polished to irresistibility by her nightly hex-laced potion routine. She loves to please and nothing makes her happier than when everyone else around her is completely happy.
When Annie’s coven tasks her with guiding an orphan teenage witch through the process of getting her blossoming magical powers under control, Annie is excited for the chance to please and to prove herself. But the ramshackle cabin they’ll be housed in isn’t quite the staycation of Annie’s dreams—and she and Maeve, the headstrong teen, couldn’t be more different.
Just when they’re starting to understand each other, the owner of the cabin unexpectedly returns—and this quietly gruff and handsome warlock is not pleased to find that the coven volunteered his house to a high-maintenance witch and her angsty teen companion.
As this seemingly unlikely trio develop a loyalty and fondness for one another, Annie slowly learns that her people-pleasing may have led her down an impossible, lonely path. If everything about her is so right—why does it all feel so wrong?
