What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
Neftlix’s Lucifer meets 50 Shades of Gray in this scorching hot sequel to ORIGINAL SINNER, where the devil and his newly immortal fiancée must navigate the underhanded celestial politics of a God-abandoned NYC.
How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I chose to set ORIGINAL SINNER in NYC because it was the perfect location for a mix of celestial and celebrity drama set to a high-fashion background. Think The Devil Wears Prada meets Lucifer and BDSM—so keeping the sequel, WICKED BELIEVER, set in the city was the natural choice.
Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Absolutely. Though I have a feeling Lucifer and I would butt heads. But Charlotte would easily be my bestie.
What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Three words that describe Charlotte are: resilient, resourceful, and driven. Three words that describe Lucifer are: strategic, overconfident, and sexy.
What’s something you learned while writing this book?
My life’s journey has really paralleled Charlotte’s in many ways, so I’d say I learned to that I can be stronger than I thought I could be.
Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I edit as I draft. I can’t imagine not editing until I was finished. Editing is part of how I move forward into new chapters.
What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Crème brulee
Describe your writing space/office!
I have a converted, air-conditioned she-shed for an office.
Who is an author you admire?
Sara Cate, who is both an incredible writer and gave an extremely kind endorsement quote for Original Sinner.
Is there a book that changed your life?
Writing ORIGINAL SINNER definitely changed my life. It was a catalyst for so many things. I know that seems like a cop-out answer, but it’s honestly true.
Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I was on a walk when my agent called me and told me Amazon-Publishing had offered for Original Sinner. I ran back to my house to tell my family and for those who know me, that was a big deal, because I do not run lol.
What’s your favorite genre to read?
Romance. All subgenres of romance.
What’s your favorite movie?
Lately it’s K-Pop Demon Hunters.
What is your favorite season?
Fall/Autumn.
How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
My birthday is actually this week! I celebrate by going out to dinner with family and friends + cake.
What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
I really loved Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry.
What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Italian or French, but I’m not picky. I love so many kinds of food!
What do you do when you have free time?
I read. I also love listening to audiobooks and podcasts. I also enjoy walking, tarot, watching TV, playing with my kids, etc.
