There’s something joyful about blooming flowers which always lifts my heart. May, here in the US, brings an abundance of color as flowers bloom and people begin decorating their homes and places of business. It’s my favorite thing about May.

We’ve stayed at many RV parks in the US. Most have a unique look and personality. I always notice if they’ve planted flowers, and Jim and Mary's RV Park in Missoula, MN is one which stands out in my mind when the topic is flowers.

We had stayed for three nights from July 11th to the 14th, 2021 on our big 109-day trip west, which included a trip to Glacier National Park nearby.

As we drove into the RV park, I couldn’t help but smile and once the motorhome was parked, I wanted to drive down every street and see every flowerbed.

It was worth the drive, and we took that drive each time as we were coming and going. I had never seen so many flowers in an RV Park before. They even have their own greenhouse and take their flowerbeds seriously. When we moved on down the road, I wished I could’ve had more time to enjoy all the flowers.

Are you finding flowers in your corner of the world this May?
Our RV spot this spring and summer in NC has plenty of shady trees, so I’ll have to keep that in mind if I decide to get any potted plants. One thing you give up when living in a motorhome on the road is having any sort of garden. This makes me enjoy other people’s gardens even more. (With the plus of not having to pull weeds.)

May also brings an event which is dear to my heart. Shimmy Mob.
Shimmy Mob is an annual event, held each May on world belly dance day, to raise funds for local domestic abuse shelters. All around the world, dancers wearing the same T-shirt dance to the chosen song and choreography on Shimmy Mob Day.
This year marks the 15th anniversary which is exciting for me as I was the founder of Shimmy Mob Memphis in that first year and for 10 years afterward was an active part of the team. With us moving around, the last five years, I had to step away. This year I’m pleased to be part of the Durham, NC team.
I’ve also supported the fundraising in past years with book signing sales donations, and eventually wrote a book with a heroine who is an assistant team leader for Shimmy Mob, giving readers a small glimpse into the dance world.
Originally part of Susan Stokers Aces Kindle World, and titled PROTECTING ZARIFAH, when rights reverted to me, I rewrote the novella, setting in in VA as part of my Green Brotherhood: SEAL Team XII series.
Retitled SAVING THE BELLYDANCER it is the third novella in the series.
