1--What is the title of your latest release?
FOLLOW ME
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
FOLLOW ME is a dark comedy/thriller skewering toxic Instagram Motherhood - think HEATHERS meets THE STEPFORD WIVES but in the age of social media. After her sister goes missing at a Mommy Influencer Weekend, childless burnout Adrienne must go undercover to try to find out what happened before the other perfect psycho mommies or her own demons catch up with her.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I am a Northern California Girl, and if anyone is going to suck me into a cult atmosphere, that’s where I will be most susceptible.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
I would definitely hang out with Bautista and Chiara! Adrienne and I would have gotten along in my 20s, but I am too old for her now.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Dedicated, distrustful, sensitive.
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I learned that even though I felt so fragile after I had a baby, I was in fact stronger than I had ever been. And in sharing this book with others, I learned I wasn’t the only one who felt this way. We all cracked open, but we didn’t crack apart.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I edit as I go. I follow an outline, so I know where I need chapters to be in order to set the stage for the next narrative twist.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Any fresh noodle, be it ravioli or udon or ramen.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
I wrote a lot of this book in my parked car while one of my kids slept in the back seat after a day out. My husband would slide my laptop in through the window! I also wrote in the West Hollywood Public Library, in my bed, and in my notes app in the middle of the night while I was nursing my baby.
10--Who is an author you admire?
I dread and love this question in equal measure because where do I even begin?! Isabelle Allende, Tana French, PD James, Priyanka Mattoo, Parini Shroff, MC Beaton - the list is endless.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
Mrs. Dalloway. I love the symbolism, and the incredible insight into the characters’ psychology. Every sentence felt like a puzzle with a secret inside.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I cried my eyes out. My dearest dream has always been to be a professional writer. For nearly 15 years, I had a lot of near misses in a middling-to-unremarkable screenwriting career. We were leaving Los Angeles for cheaper living, and I assumed my creative writing career as I had imagined it was over. I wrote this book because I had to. It felt like an exorcism. I figured if no one liked it, I could self-publish it and if even one person read it and felt comfort in it that was more than I needed. Instead, the wildest ride began!! I must admit I still don’t believe any of this is real. I must praise my lovely agent Liz Parker for all her hard work. I hope this is just the beginning.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Mysteries and thrillers. I will read some literary fiction and nonfiction/essays every year, but for my sheer pleasure I am always reaching for a mystery.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
And now I have to cheat again and make a list! Rear Window, Moonstruck, When Harry Met Sally, the two perfect Jane Austen adaptations Emma Thompson’s Sense & Sensibility and Clueless, Get Out, The Godfather Part I. I do also have to say that I have a deep love for Julie & Julia because it is a movie about 2 women’s ambition. The final moment when Julia holds her book for the first time, while her husband cheers her on, makes me misty without fail. More movies about women being ambitious and not being punished for it!
15--What is your favorite season?
Fall. Warm days, crisp nights, greens and golds in the trees. Heaven.
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Ideally, I would love to spend the day swimming in the ocean and eating oysters. But in a pinch, I love playing hooky from work and seeing a matinee, ideally with a soft pretzel.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
Dead Loch. Incredible writing, hysterically funny, and wonderfully plotted mystery.
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
It is a 5-way tie between Thai food, Japanese food, Indian food, Italian food, and Ethiopian food. (I am learning from this questionnaire that I am cognitively and emotionally incapable of choosing a favorite anything!)
19--What do you do when you have free time?
I have two small kids, so if there is any free time in my day I am sleeping.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
I am working on my second novel now! While it is a brand-new story, readers can expect the return of satire plus mystery (and maybe a little horror).

Heathers meets The Stepford Wives in this creepy and frighteningly funny dark thriller about a woman who will do anything to find her missing sister. Even pretend to be one of them.
After her twin sister, Chiara, goes missing at a mom-fluencer weekend, Adrienne Shaw will find her no matter what it takes. They may have been on the outs, but no one comes for her sister and gets away with it.
It’s been a year, the authorities have no answers, and her brother-in-law is useless in the matter. It’s time for Adrienne to take the case into her own hands. Following in Chiara’s last footsteps, Adrienne goes undercover, infiltrating the same influencer retreat as the last thing she wants to be: an Instamommy.
The remote ranch in Northern California is certainly welcoming—in a cult-adjacent kind of way. A charismatic leader, communal crafts, fixed smiles—and a lot of dead eyes.
Going on gut instinct and chasing a wild theory—that Chiara came here and never left—Adrienne is determined to uncover the truth before the too-perfect-to-believe women figure out who Adrienne really is: a threat to be eliminated.
