Sarah M. Eden | Title Challenge: THE TIDES OF TIME

Instagramfacebook

Hi! I’m Sarah M. Eden, author of THE TIDES OF TIME, my 79th book and my very first time-travel romance. I am so excited to introduce you to this adventurous, romantic, and history-rich story.

In 1793, a storm propels Lili forward through time, kindling a love that transcends the ages. But is that love powerful enough to rewrite history?

Fleeing the clutches of Robespierre’s Revolutionary Tribunal, Lili Minet makes a desperate escape on a ship headed to England, but her dangerous flight takes an unexpected turn when a violent storm catapults her off the ship and eighty years into the future, leaving her stranded in the unfamiliar world of 1873 England.

When lighthouse keeper Armitage Pierce rescues a woman from the tumultuous sea, he does not anticipate her silent, cold response to his gallant efforts. Though he is wary of this woman and her odd behaviors, he finds she is just as wary of him. And he can sense that she is not telling him something of great import to her. Only Armitage’s grandfather, a man seasoned by the mysteries of the sea, can seem to penetrate Lili’s defenses to offer her support. But as Lili heals from the physical and emotional wounds of her ordeal and Armitage continues to offer light and safety to her, a tender friendship blossoms between the two, evolving into a profound and ardent connection.

Yet the shadow of danger looms as the threat from Lili’s past reemerges in her new present. Together Lili and Armitage must navigate the challenges of a love that defies the boundaries of time and the perils that reach across the decades to ensnare Lili. As the storm clouds gather, Lili and Armitage face the ultimate test—whether their love is strong enough to rewrite the pages of history itself to save themselves and their love.

T is for Time-slip. This story is a time-travel tale, of the “time-slip” variety, in which time travel is an accident and out of the traveler’s control.

I is for Island. Our courageous heroine finds herself tossed through time and dependent on the generosity of a group of islanders off England’s southern shore.

D is for Distrust. The troubles of their pasts and complications of their present throw up barriers of distrust between our hero and heroine.

E is for England. Armitage, our hero, hails from Victorian-era England, where the heroine finds herself tossed by the inexplicable magical powers of the sea.

S is for Storms. In the universe of “The Tides of Time,” time travel happens on the sea, when a storm whips up in the bay and the lightning strikes green.

O is for Ocean. Our heroine flees the danger of her homeland on a boat, only to find the ocean is filled with unexpected perils of its own.

F is for France. Lili, our heroine, hails from Revolutionary France, eighty years before the time she finds herself flung to.

T is for Train. Having arrived in Victorian England from the 1790s, Lili is faced with things, like steam trains, that aren’t merely unfamiliar but are impossible to comprehend and even terrifying, yet she has to pretend she is perfectly at ease in such a frightening and befuddling world.

I is for Illumination. A significant part of this story takes place at the Loftstone Island Lighthouse, overlooking and illuminating the menacing and powerful sea.

M is for Madame Guillotine. Lili has been instrumental in saving people from the horrors of the Revolution, but, now eighty years away from the blood-soaked streets of France, she must come to terms with all she has seen and all that France had become.

E is for Égalité. The tenets of the French Revolution–Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité–ideals Lili celebrates and embraces, yet she stands in opposition to the ways in which they are being pursued, raising the question of where one draws the line in achieving a worthwhile goal.

THE TIDES OF TIME by Sarah M. Eden

Yet the shadow of danger looms as the threat that chased Lili from France all those years ago reemerges in her new present. Together Lili and Armitage must navigate the challenges of a romance that grows to defy the boundaries of time and the perils that reach across the decades to ensnare Lili. As the storm clouds gather, Lili and Armitage face the ultimate test—discovering whether their bond is strong enough to rewrite the pages of history itself to save them and their love.
