1--What is the title of your latest release?

THE OLIGARCH’S DAUGHTER

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

An American guy falls in love with a photographer, not knowing she’s the daughter of a billionaire Russian oligarch.  Then the FBI takes an interest . . .

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

It was easy: it had to take place in New York City, because my hero is an up-and-coming Wall Street guy, and his father-in-law runs a hedge fund.

4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?

Definitely.  He’s smart, funny, and personable.

5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?

Oh, I just listed them.  Funny, smart, and personable.  Also really brave.

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I learned that it’s really hard to live under a false identity, off the grid, these days.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I write without editing, then I edit the previous day’s chapter.  So I guess I do both.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Does this count as foodie? – hot fudge sundae.

9--Describe your writing space/office!

It’s a converted one-bedroom apartment across the street from where we live with books lining the walls.  Very comfortable space.

10--Who is an author you admire?

Nelson DeMille

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

Marathon Man.  It made me want to write thrillers.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.

I got a call from my then foreign rights agent, Danny Baror, telling me that he had sold my first novel to Pan publishers in the UK.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

thrillers

14--What’s your favorite movie?

The Game

15--What is your favorite season?

autumn

Dinner with my wife, daughter, and close friends.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

a thriller that launches a new series.

THE OLIGARCH'S DAUGHTER by Joseph Finder

A Novel

From the New York Times bestselling author of House on Fire, a breakneck thriller that marries the dynastic opulence of Succession with the tense and disorienting spycraft of The Americans.

Paul Brightman is a man on the run, living under an assumed name in a small New England town with a million-dollar bounty on his head. When his security is breached, Paul is forced to flee into the New Hampshire wilderness to evade Russian operatives who can seemingly predict his every move.

Six years ago, Paul was a rising star on Wall Street who fell in love with a beautiful photographer named Tatyana—unaware that her father was a Russian oligarch and the object of considerable interest from several U.S. intelligence agencies. Now, to save his own life, Paul must unravel a decades-old conspiracy that extends to the highest reaches of the government.

Rivaling the classic spy novels of the Cold War, The Oligarch’s Daughter is built for the frightening world we live in now.
