Kit Tosello | Author-Reader Match: THE COLOR OF HOME

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match" where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It's our great pleasure to present Kit Tosello!

Writes:

Lyrical contemporary small-town women’s fiction with humor, hope, and a romance thread. In my new release, THE COLOR OF HOME, a Bay Area interior designer to the rich and pretentious, risks her career to help her great-aunt and uncle spruce up their house for sale and a move to assisted living. When a dark-eyed young girl in need of a friend, a deteriorating inn connected to her dad’s tragic death, and a do-gooding emergency medical pilot wedge their way into her heart, Audrey is torn. Will the folksy community she never wanted to return to persuade her to exchange her carefully drawn life for something more meaningful?

About:

If I’m not writing stories that I want to read, I’m probably outside taking yet another photo of the Cascade Mountains in just the right light, listening to audiobooks, or making bubble tea for my grandkids. Hubby and I operate a loose-tea shop in pine-forested Central Oregon that has a wide front porch and smells like heaven.

The ideal reader for The Color of Home:

  • wants to be transported to a small mountain town with heartwarming townsfolk
  • adores literary references
  • can get behind an overly ambitious, teal-loving millennial heroine on a journey to discover what’s truly important
  • likes to laugh and cry, sometimes during the same chapter
  • appreciates the wisdom of a grandmother figure who has weathered a lot
  • cares about the character’s spiritual journey but doesn’t like to be preached at
  • loves straight-arrow heroes with a hidden wound

  • gets all gooey inside over slow-build, swoony and sweet romance

What to expect if we're compatible:

  • your heart to squeeze with warmth and emotion
  • multiple moments of laughter and thinking “I can relate to this woman!”
  • to remember the power of love and small kindnesses
  • inspiration to make your “home” in things that matter
  • romance that isn’t the main storyline but makes you fall in love all over again
  • sadness at leaving your new favorite town and townsfolk when the story ends
  • feeling the book ended too soon and too fast

THE COLOR OF HOME by Kit Tosello

Contemporary Small Town Women's Fiction about Family and Community set by the Mountains

Audrey Needham, Bay Area interior designer to the rich and pretentious, is down to her last nerve. Her boss is impossible to please, her future is in jeopardy, and her great-aunt Daisy needs support as her husband descends into Alzheimer's.

When Daisy enlists Audrey's help preparing for a move to assisted living, Audrey risks her career to return to the idyllic small town of Charity Falls, Oregon, the summer stomping grounds of her childhood. But Charity Falls was also the place that broke her heart when her father was killed in a tragic fire at the Sugar Pine Inn thirteen years ago.

Despite Audrey's intent to avoid emotional entanglement, the pull of home is hard to resist. Something should be done about the deteriorating inn. A local girl with an incarcerated father needs a friend. And handsome local do-gooder Cade Carter is coloring Audrey all shades of uncertain.

Join award-winning writer and debut novelist Kit Tosello in this lyrical and often humorous exploration of how God redeems brokenness and draws us to the life we're meant to find.
