Hello, Fresh Fiction Readers!
I’m Alexa Aston, author of LOVE IN EVERY BITE. This is the 4th book in my small-town romance series Lost Creek, Texas Hill Country. Don’t worry - I write all my romances to read as standalones (and they are ALL available in Kindle Unlimited).
Here’s a little bit about my hero & heroine:
Ry Blackwood is a Lost Creek native, an army veteran returning home after a dozen years away. He’s eager to be back in Texas, working at his family’s legendary BBQ business, smoking meats.
Emerson Frost is a teacher who has inherited the town’s bakery, turning her life upside down. She’s finding her feet as a business owner - and while attracted to Ry - she’s determined to concentrate on business and not pleasure.
L is for love. Hey, this is a romance! But it will be hard for Ry, toughened by military action, & Emerson, a foster child, to speak those words to one another.
O is for others. Both Ry and Emerson form close friendships with other people in Lost Creek, including the heroes & heroines from the previous three books. This chosen family of friends helps them both find a sense of belonging.
V is for veteran. Ry left Lost Creek as an idealistic, immature teenager after high school graduation. He returns a mature man, ready to live his new life.
E is for embrace. Not only embracing a new life and new challenges, but embracing one another, opening to the possibilities of love.
I is for infusion. Ry has been stationed around the world, and he’s come to enjoy Asian dishes. He wants to infuse Texas BBQ with new tastes - and that leads too conflict with his dad.
N is for a new life. Ry is leaving the disciplined life of the army. Emerson is trading in her lesson plans for new recipes for the cakes she designs and bakes for wedding receptions held at Lost Creek Winery’s event center.
E is for entrepreneurial. Both Ry & Emerson will inject their business with this spirit, as they create new dishes and desserts for the people of Lost Creek.
V is for values. I try to infuse the character and moral code of a tight-knit small town into this series. Lost Creek residents treat everyone as family.
E is for evolve. Over the course of their relationship, these two have to grow and change as they find themselves, both personally and professionally, and discover they are better together than apart.
R is for romance. Oftentimes, it’s the little gestures that mean so much when two people are falling in love.
Y is for yearning. Both Ry & Emerson have a hankering for one another, as well as a longing to find where they fit in Lost Creek.
B is for BBQ. Ry grew up around his family’s BBQ business and believes he will become a part of it when he returns to his hometown.
I is for the intoxicating aromas coming from Ry’s food truck, as the citizens of Lost Creek flock to try his new creations.
T is for tenacious. Emerson doesn’t want to have anything to do with Ry, thinking he’s a player, but he is determined - and way stubborn - wanting to change Emerson’s mind about him. Fortunately, he succeeds!
E is for euphoric. When this couple finally agree to begin a physical relationship, they form a lovely bond, elated over how well matched they are both physically and emotionally.
Lost Creek, Texas Hill Country #4
Welcome to Lost Creek Texas, a small town deep in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, where people come seeking new opportunities and a chance to reinvent themselves—and maybe even find love.
An army veteran returning to his hometown. A teacher embarking on a new venture. A pitmaster and baker who form a creative partnership— and fall in love…
Ry Blackwood left Lost Creek after high school graduation, enlisting in the army with his best friend. After being stationed on foreign soil for a dozen years, he’s ready to return home and begin life as a civilian. Embracing the solace and sense of belonging in Lost Creek, Ry throws himself into his family’s BBQ business, a familiar world packed with the intoxicating aroma of slow-smoked meats and the bustling energy of his loved ones. Little does he know fate has a sweet surprise waiting for him in the form of a pretty baker.
Emerson Frost grew up in foster care, winning a full ride to the University of Texas. Now a third grade teacher, she has a side business baking cakes for Weddings with Hart. Her life turns upside down, however, when the owner of The Bake House dies, bequeathing the town’s beloved bakery to Emerson. Leaving teaching to devote herself to baking full-time, she is finding her feet as a business owner. Emerson is taken with Ry, a charming lady’s man whom she’s determined to stay away from.
Yet Ry is wildly creative, intriguing Emerson with his ideas of fusing Asian cuisine with traditional Texas barbeque— and then inviting her to collaborate with him, merging her baking techniques with his innovative concepts. As they experiment, their creations become popular with the events they cater at Lost Creek Winery.
Their passion for food ignites their passion for one another, and love blossoms amidst heartfelt conversations about their dreams and desires. But Emerson is closed off from her emotions, not one to trust easily.
