Cara Bristol | An Interview with the Hero of ESCAPE CLAUSE

facebookgoodreadsbookbubInstagram

Sci-fi romance Author Cara Bristol interviewed the hero of ESCAPE CLAUSE (Cosmic Mates 1), Governor-General Krogan of planet Caradonia.

Cara Bristol: Thank you for meeting with me today, Governor-General. The galaxy is abuzz about the Cosmic Mates interplanetary matchmaking program you started.

Krogan: Please, call me Krogan. Caradonia started the program out of necessity. A nano-virus brought to our planet from another world devastated our population.  All our women of childbearing age were afflicted. Half of them died. The survivors are now in stasis while we try to develop a cure. But even if all the women survive, we may not have enough females to ensure the survival of our species. So, Cosmic Mates will bring in alien women.

Cara: I’m so sorry. That’s devastating. How has the program been working out?

Krogan: It hasn’t been. The men aren’t signing up. We had identified five species who are biologically compatible, but they look so alien, the men aren’t attracted to them. My vice governor-general identified another alien species, humans, from Terra Nova who are more similar. They’re not blue-skinned like us—they’re rather blah, ranging from beige to brown, but they have two arms, two legs, similar facial features. We’re hoping they’re more appealing to the men. [He makes a face].

Cara: You don’t think they will be?

Krogan: Based on my second-in-command’s strong suggestion, I’ll be taking a wife through Cosmic Mates. I must set an example. If I don’t do it, the men won’t either.

Cara: You don’t want a Cosmic Mates wife because she’s human?

Krogan: I don’t want a wife period. I do not have the capacity to love. It’s not in my nature to feel more than lukewarm affection. It’s not pretty, but it’s the truth. My focus is ruling Caradonia and ensuring we get through the nano-virus pandemic. I don’t have the time or the inclination to get married. But I have to—for my people.

Cara: Taking one for the team, I get it. But is that fair to the woman? What if she’s hoping for love?

Krogan: It’s not fair, I agree. But I will be up front that the marriage is temporary. We added an “escape clause” in the marriage contracts as an incentive to encourage the men to sign up. Cosmic Mates marriages are provisional for one year. At the end of the period, either party can walk away. There is also a “bad faith” clause.

Cara: Well, you’ve thought of every angle. Do you really think a woman will go for that? It might be a marriage of convenience for you, but she’s probably looking for love. You might not get anyone.

Krogan: That’s actually what I’m hoping for—that no woman will accept my terms.

ESCAPE CLAUSE by Cara Bristol

Cosmic Mates #1

Escape Clause

The only thing they can’t escape is love…

After a nano-virus devastates Caradonia, leaving the planet in desperate need of women, leader Krogan launches a last-ditch effort to save their civilization—convince men to accept human brides through Cosmic Mates.

Krogan himself has no time or desire for a wife. A driven workaholic, he’s focused on solving his planet’s problems and maintaining peace in the world. But his people look to him to set an example. If he doesn’t take a wife through Cosmic Mates no one else will either. Thankfully, there’s an escape clause, and at the end of the trial period, he intends to use it.
Fleeing a horrid and powerful man, Hope Bennett reluctantly agrees to a marriage of convenience with an alien. The last thing she desires is to be locked into an unwanted union. Been there, almost did that. Fortunately, the escape clause in the contract gives her an out, and when it’s safe, she can go home to Terra Nova.

Hope and Krogan promise each other a marriage in name only and vow to separate when the contract provisions are satisfied. But as they let down their guard, they recognize a kindred spirit in each other. Love and passion blossom, and each begins to long for a deeper, permanent union.

Just as their secret wishes are about to be fulfilled, violent tensions erupt out of the pandemic, forcing Krogan into a dilemma—to save Hope he must invoke the escape clause of their marriage contract.

If he sends her away, will she ever come back?

About Cara Bristol

Cara Bristol

Cara Bristol didn’t start out to become a spanking fiction author. It sort of happened…okay, with five spanking titles under her belt, three under contract, maybe it didn’t just happen. Maybe she likes the naughtiness, the taboo thrill of writing about dominant, sexy men who like to spank their partners. Could be. Cara (pronounced CAR uh) is a multi-published author whose Rod and Cane Society novels have become one of the most popular domestic discipline erotic romance series. Four books about a secret organization of men who discipline their wives and girlfriends have been released by Loose Id: Unexpected Consequences, False Pretenses, Body Politics and Disciplinary Measures. Her Breeder science fiction romance series is underway. Book one, Breeder, is available now. Terran will be published in May 2014, and she is working on Warrior now. Cara lives in the Midwest part of the United States with her husband. When she’s not writing, she enjoys traveling and reading.
