1--What is the title of your latest release?
THE KISS COUNTDOWN
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
When a struggling event planner and a sinfully hot astronaut strike a deal to fake date for three months, they must decide if a real relationship is worth a shot at happily-ever-after.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
While NASA has quite a few space centers in the US, Houston with its Johnson Space Center has always held a special place in my heart. I love the culture and food, and have visited often since I was a kid, so it was an easy decision to set the story there!
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Yes! I think my main character, Amerie, would be a lot of fun to be around.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Cautious, snarky, loving.
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I learned about the rigorous training astronauts have to endure. They put in so many hours, so they'll be able to perform not only physically, but mentally as well. And many of them know Russian!
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I try to draft straight through then go back to edit. It can be tough to move past a passage or chapter I know isn’t quite working, so in those instances I have to tell myself that I can always go back and make whatever I've written better, but first there needs to be a story on paper to make better!
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
S’mores. If only the combo of chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers was healthy so I could eat some everyday!
9--Describe your writing space/office!
I have a cute set up with a sturdy white desk right next to a bookshelf with my growing collection of physical books. Unfortunately, the desk is too tall for my 5’ frame, making it uncomfortable for my elbows when I type. Most of my time working is spent in a comfy, plush green chair my husband surprised me with!
10--Who is an author you admire?
There are seriously so many! But one author who's work I've loved for years is Nalini Singh.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
This time I have to cheat and name two. Heart Of Obsidian by Nalini Singh, and Reel by Kennedy Ryan. Kaleb and Canon rewired my brain chemistry when it comes to book boyfriends!
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I was still in bed when my agent sent a text asking if I was awake. I had a feeling she had good news and bolted up, messaging her back that I was now! We spoke on the phone and she told me an amazing editor loved the book and wanted to have a conversation. A few days after speaking with my now editor, we received the official offer! I was in a state of disbelief (a feeling that has yet to fade), but over the moon, nonetheless.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
I love Paranormal Romance!
14--What’s your favorite movie?
Cinderella (1997) with Brandy and Paolo Montalban is the perfect mix of romance, whimsy, diversity, and musical genius!
15--What is your favorite season?
The 2-3 weeks of Spring we get in Central Texas before summer temperatures make outside unbearable is always a true delight.
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I always seem to be running my kids around or trying to keep up with laundry and other household things, so on my birthday I like to relax, nap, and eat s’mores.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
Books: The Partner Plot by Kristina Forest and Sex, Lies, and Sensibility by Nikki Payne were both so fun!
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Soul food. Additionally, I hate when people are around while I eat macaroni and cheese or shrimp and grits because I feel like I can't really devour it like I want to without being judged!
19--What do you do when you have free time?
I know it's boring, but I really truly love to take naps. I also like styling mine and my daughters’ hair.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
Book 2 will be out in 2025! This one will be NASA/space adjacent too, with some fun and swoony adventures!
A struggling event planner and a sinfully hot astronaut must decide if their fake relationship is worth a shot at happily-ever-after, in this starry debut.
Risk-averse event planner Amerie Price is jobless, newly single, and about to lose her apartment. With no choice but to gamble on her shaky start-up, the last thing she needed was to run into her smug ex and his new, less complicated girlfriend at Amerie's favorite coffee shop. Panicked, she pretends to be dating the annoyingly sexy man she met by spilling Americano all over his abs. He plays along—for a price.
Half the single men in Houston claim to be astronauts, but Vincent Rogers turns out to be the real deal. What started as a one-off lie morphs into a plan: for the three months leading up to his mission, Amerie will play Vincent's doting partner in front of his loving but overly invested family. In exchange, she gets a rent-free room in his house and can put every penny toward her struggling business.
What Amerie doesn't plan for is Vincent's gravitational pull. While her mind tells her a future with this astronaut is too unpredictable, her heart says he's exactly what she needs. As their time together counts down, Amerie must decide if she'll settle for the safe life—or shoot for the stars.
